Re: Project Ru5tyNut5

yea, every saturday night is an informal "gathering" of cars at the Krispy Kreme just south of Johnson Creek Blvd or whatever it is on 82nd. I haven't gone to one yet so not sure how many people show up. I think it's organized by a car club but more than just the club go, but I don't know from experience.

Re: Project Ru5tyNut5

no $$, no prizes, no trophies or dash plaques, just cars and the wierdos that drive them. the flyer thing says get there around 5 for the best parking but there's plenty of parking available. I'm undecided on that one for this weekend at this point, have to see how wet it is and whether I feel like it or not.

Re: Project Ru5tyNut5

luckily I checked my rear license plate today, one of the little plastic things that clips in to the bumper that the plate screws screw into had pulled out and the other one was workin on it. if you're going to spend much time dragging your bumper down the street, make sure your plate is bolted on so you don't lose it.....

Re: Project Ru5tyNut5

I think I saw one of those on ebay while I was looking for one, I've had mine since Feb. or so, just hadn't put it on yet. I was going to wait until I replaced the hood but now I'm thinking I might leave it as it is for awhile, or should I say my wallet is thinking I'll leave it how it is for awhile. I considered a lot of different ideas before I chose the one I did, I didn't think a square body truck should have so many curves on the front, that's why I didn't choose the one you did.

Re: Project Ru5tyNut5

Oh yea, so my buddy and I were having a discussion last night about my rusted out front fenders. I was given 2 free fenders that aren't all rusted out like the ones on my truck, there are some small dents but nothing major. my buddy asked why I hadn't put them on yet since I've had them for like a month and I told him I want to wait until I have the doors and hood and everything so I can do it all at once and then at least get it in primer so it's all one color the whole time. he thinks I should throw the black fenders on the front and leave the rest red for now so that it's obvious that I'm making progress on it. my thing is I don't care if people think I'm making progress or not, I'm building it for me not them, and the rust just gives it character anyhow. what do you guys think, should I roll it with rust holes but all one color, or throw on the other fenders and have a red truck with black fenders that don't have rust holes? oh, and even if the fenders don't have rust holes, the hood and doors still will, at least now it all matches.. :-)

Re: Project Ru5tyNut5

right, I don't plan to leave it rusty but can't afford to fix it right now so It's a battle of multi colored with a little less rust, or uniformly rusty. my rust is so bad it's going to take new fenders, hood, and doors, to patch it all would end up costing a lot more than getting all new panels.

A lot of times it's just as good to buy a parts truck.

I have to admit that I did like it. I'll give you a dig out if u want. My roomie is an OLD-school car dude and he knows these chevy motors inside out. He helped me with this one. Hence the old school look. I'll paint and you can weld. LOL

Re: Project Ru5tyNut5

yea, I can't afford a parts truck either but if I can find a good one for really really cheap I might have to find a way. I want a second frame anyhow so I can build it just how I want it, I learned a lot the first time through and would do a few things different.

yea, that's why I figured I'll just wait until I have all the body panels, so I only have to do it all once.
