Yeah. Drop the clutch and roll back, THEN work on the battery cables. He must've not known that track was active and assumed it was a dead line. Easy for me to say, but I wasn't there.

No, he knew it was active. It's obviously an in use track just by looking at it. But any local would know and I am sure that fool is a local. He was looking for his buddies.

Re: movie trucks
That is a cool '67 Fleetside.
It's clear to me the truck has a fake ''movie'' plate on the front. It's a car plate: ABC 123. In Cali in that period, all light duty pickups were required to have a commercial license plate [10 566 A] unless they had a camper top or cap on the bed. Also movie plates were a very saturated blue shade to show up better under photographic lighting. They are obvious to the naked eye on the street. But you'll never notice it in a chase scene clip.

Last summer I did some "extra" work for a movie with both of my 68's. On some of the cars they stuck those fake plates on them. Kinda comical because they really stood out in person next to cars with original plates.

I was gripping on ''Goats'' a David Duchovny project in 2010, and the DP shot an ECU of the chrome grille of my '71 Jimmy -- panning off right, to focus on the hero car, as they pull up to a ''Mexican cathouse.'' It was shot in Downtown Tucson.

Re: movie trucks
I know Hallmark has used a few trucks in various movies.
"Return to Christmas Creek" had this truck There was a new one from this year where they were in a blue/white 69-72 GMC, never got a good shot of the nose.

Not the best screenshot pic, but here is a 71 or 72 model on Tulsa King. I've seen it on several of the episodes.

Re: movie trucks
As much as I like these bodies unaltered, I have also always had a thing for flared fenders. These trucks sort of have them already. I like this truck. As widespread as all sorts of styling trends have spread across the country, pre-runner trucks have never hit the mainstream. It's cool they chose a not so typical truck. Really cool truck!

Re: movie trucks
There was some discussion of '72 GMC K/2500 Suburban last seen in a Black/White police panda suit, used as the hero car in ''Dark Winds'' about the Navajo Tribal Police. While watching the trailer clips from the 2022-23 series on IMDb, I saw a bronze green/tan vinyl topped '73 Lincoln Continental -- bad guy car? -- charging at 60 MPH at the camera during a heist episode. I'm almost sure that was my Dad's Lincoln. It had a 460 big block, and would pass anything on the highway but a gas station. I sold it around 2004 to a guy from work. He never got it legally registered in Arizona. I got an Abandoned Vehicle notice from the MVD that included a $500 fine. I got out of it after some sweating, since it was registered in my Dad's name and he was deceased.
Someone must have picked it up at an impound auction in Tucson, worked on it and turned it around as a picture car for this ''Dark Winds'' show set on the Navajo Rez. Only difference was the dual headlights had these flapper doors controlled by vacuum hoses. My Dad hated the idea that the headlight covers might get stuck in the ''down'' position, so he tied them up with baling wire. Whoever fixed this car got them working right. Tried to bag a screenshot, but I could not get it. Not a GM product, but it was of personal interest. Haven't seen the AMC series, but it looks good.

Re: movie trucks
The TV Show " The Gilmore Girls " ran from 2000-2007. The character Luke , acted by Scott Patterson, drove a green 71-72 C20 during the series. Last week I'm watching " The Lincoln Lawyer", great show to watch, on Netflix and in a couple episodes a biker gang is using the same truck as upper molding and chrome rims are still there. Movie companies must keep vehicles around forever..

Re: movie trucks
Not production companies per se, but there are a lot rental houses that specialize in period vehicles. If a script is set in a certain period, the Art Dept starts scouting around for period vehicles. If a rental house doesn't have the right cars, they'll look around the location community. For the Richard Prior/Gene Wilder film ''Stir Crazy'' a PA knocked on my Dad's door in Tucson, and asked to rent his '59 Jaguar Mk IX. I forgot what they paid him per day, but the Jag got a new battery out of the deal [free].
A Hero Car [the Star's ride] they may have to buy. They may have to buy three. One to drive around in. One to mount on a trailer with lights, and grip dept cutters and flags, and camera mounts, etc. and one to blow up -- if called for. A lot of these trucks we see often are owned by some one the Picture Car Man, or Transport Captain knows, and they already have a working relationship.

Re: movie trucks
Went to the theaters last weekend and saw a early screening of "Fly me to the Moon" about Apollo 11 and the marketing of NASA at the time, good movie. Since its set in 69 quite a few pickups are running around. Most notable was a white 68 step side that was a NASA truck.
