Re: 1972 Cheyenne Restoration
Nice progress! The truck is looking good! Just an FYI on those rivets, I don't care what rivets were in there when you removed them, if you don't put rosette style back in there, you will regret it later. They all came with them from the factory. If they were plain old rivets, someone has had the tag off before you acquired the truck. I know where you can get replacements and I will send you a PM shortly.

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Restoration
Well, we have been busy this week refreshing some of the old parts from the truck. We also decided that the paint on top the dash was not up to par either..so..... we did something about that. We are also making progress on the engine. More measuring than Jon thought he would EVER do !!!!! But worth every second.

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Restoration
Got the new seat cover today. Unbolted the seat frames and repaired the the lower frame, had a couple springs broken, then powerwashed it and baked it in the paint booth. Beadblasted the tracks, and painted them up. Lots to do while waiting to get the engine done.

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Restoration
Man that looks awesome! Can you give some advice or tips on installing the rubber with the trim in it? I usually pay a guy I know to do it, but i might try it myself on the next one.

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Restoration
Ryan, I just asked a friend who is a glass man the same question. He assured me that it's a two person job: one guy pushes on and guides the glass from the outside, the other pulls the string (string method) to seat the gasket from the inside.

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Restoration
I can pull the window in, but I'm really nervous about the trim. Don't you install the trim after the window and gasket are installed? Or do you install the trim in the gasket and then install it all together? I always thought the trim helps lock the gasket in place but on these IDK.

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Restoration
More of the little things done today. Cleaned the headers for re-paint, sanded and painted the seat frames, primed up the valve covers, oil pan and timing cover, wire wheeled the seat cover wires...the bed is not as full as it once was either. And we got some aftermarket front wheel wells. They will be test fit and then modified if needed.

Great work on the rebuild! I am glad to see other people not afraid to tackle some rust on a project.

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Restoration
Coated the headers, and here's the seat frame. I had to do a little seat frame repair. the drivers side springs were broken. A little welding and its good to go..

Looking good! Man the dash looks great now! Thanks for the tips on installing the rubbers with trim. Although, you make it sound too easy.
