Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
I may be weird but I like the yellow. Maybe it would settle down with the middle section on the body painted white....

Yep, I like the yellow. It settled down with the addition of the other parts. It looks great.

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
well, hittin' snags with the peterbilt, have'nt found a front axle yet, or any kind of t-case in this scale.
i found some pics of a rockwell T-138, should be fairly strait forward to scratch one up, hoping i dont have to scratch a fr axle.... seeing how i'm not building at the moment.... if you've ever looked at any of my pics i've posted, you must have noticed how "cramped" my bench gets, actually it's the wife's table. see all the jun...-stuff piled up, somehow i just kinda pushed her off it one day. lately it's been getting real bad, my chair became a grinder bench & my work bench got pushed down to a piece of wood on top the garbage can, so.... an older pic but you get the idea new & improved!! |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
now that it's new & improved, i just have to muck it up
finally getting around to the '72. be quicker & easier than the p-bilt, so it's next.... starting with a 20 something yr old build (early '90's), may not look it, but the white is not white anymore, decals are curling, gumby 2 piece rear wheels..... thinking along these lines.... here we go.... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
i will need to order some more swampers for the 1 ton dually rims i'm also ordering, which is ok, 'cause i got a lot of un-easy work to do...
besides the blower hole in the hood, you can see how much susp. is going to have to go in there to make the swamps fit but as you can really see, here's where the fun starts.... that back half is just not going to cut it, thinking loping it off behind the cab & scratching a whole new rear frame... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
winter routine again, on the rain train, just killin' the hrs. last 3 wks we had maybe 4 or 5 days of no rain, so....
...so much for new & improved.... started hacking the 2wd junk off the "frame", & cut off the rear half making some new frame rails. before i cut them to length, just messing around, ramp truck in the future maybe... holes all over this thing engine crossmember & basic frame set-up in place |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
Oh boy ....let the fun begin....what's usually on the truck is Company name, phone #, address. I like your 4x4 recovery. I had a slogan on the boom on mine. It said "you blow em..we tow em"

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
"you blow 'em we tow 'em" i like that
well this sucks, cant get no parts from my caster right now, doing re-construction (must of bought too much off him...) other than some bodywork, not a lot to do till i can get the rest of my parts. did come across a stripper thats cheaper & works just as good... started adding rivets to the frame added some bolts to the sling & filling the hood. under the black on the dash was blue, when i orig. built it i was modeling it after my '68 910, but couldn't find a GMC grille, so it became what it is. 350 just aint big enough to go fish trucks out of the muck, was able to scrape together another parts box BB(it sure hurt to de-chrome & de-fin them M/T valve covers!) |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
not to hard to tell, we're in our soaker season. stuck inside bored...but who dont like lookin' at pictures?
not a truck, but it's the Intimidator, built this right after he died. was in the shop noticing how scratched & hazed the case was & how dull & shabby looking his Monte was. was not thinking, should have took a before. added a little more detail, was able to touch up the black in a few spots, tire decals fell off, hit them with white (hand aint as steady as it used to be...), reset the decals & gave it a new coat of clear |

It's all looking great..be glad you're getting rain. We're hoping to get rain, the drought is getting kinda scary. I'm actually taking the Harley for a ride today.

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd

i hope you dont mind if i snag your slogan, wont fit on the boom, but it will fit across the front of the hood |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
Interior looks great and so does the engine and trans. They have a lot of detail to them. I also noticed that the big block has ramhorn marigolds. ..

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
yes! talk about good timing, my caster is open for buisness again.
been doing some work on the deck, added an air compressor, got some jerry cans & a few other things for it-hole in the hood is gone added some expanded steel to the headache rack raided my sons "too old too play with" toys & made some dollies from this old tonka body sure was a pia. it orig had body molding that i had sanded off, but they kept "ghosting" threw the paint, which was why i prob decaled it the first time. they came threw after 6 or 7 sandings, so i sanded a divot down the trim till i KNEW they were gone, then filled in the depression with filler. took the weird vents off the headache rack, same drill as the body.... just painted, still have to detail & clear |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thanks Dale!
what kind of stuff did you usually carry? i also got a fire ext, & a toolbox, & a bunch of chain-too much? not enuff? anything else? sadly i cant go white stripes & lettering-printer dont print white so it will be red with black stripes & lettering (kinda sucks, really wanted white....) just slapped my order for everything in, so a bit of a hold....but before they get here, this should be here first....yeah, i got too many projects flipping threw my mind, but these dont come up often anymore (wish they would re-issue!) & i was totally surprised by the price i won it for, & it's one of my fav kits going to add this shortbox to it to make a longbox... |
