Just picked up on your build thread; looks great! You got a lot more energy than I do, that's for sure. Good luck with the rest of it, hope it goes smooth for you.

Re: 68 build thread. It has begun :)
Its been a while. Time for a update. I am still waiting for the body guy to get to my fender and grill. So I decided that I am not touching anything on it (except fire it up every now and then) until I get my parts back. Its ok though I need to work on cleaning up the garage anyway

Re: 68 build thread. It has begun :)
Here is the progress so far. Grill support was dp90ed by the blasters and I gave it 2 coats of engine enamel gloss black. I also put the fender on last night and took some shots of it.

Re: 68 build thread. It has begun :)
There is no paint code for this paint. I brought the old fender down and said get the color close. Its like a steel blue gray mix. More blue shows up than in the pic.

I cleaned up the parking light/ blinker assemblies and installed clear lenses. Here it is mocked up. They are not bolted down yet.

Re: 68 build thread. It has begun :)
Whats funny about the color is that I asked the body shop to get as close as they can and just give me 1 coat paint and 1 coat clear so it wont rust. Well I ended up getting 2 coats each and I like that color a lot. Problem with it is that the guy said there is no paint code on it he just mixed until he got what you see

Re: 68 build thread. It has begun :)
Ok update time. I installed the grill tonight. I dont have the chrome rings for it yet but it looks pretty good without them. The grill and fenders are a little off but I will work on that later. Its starting to look like a truck again

I'm diggin the color, steel blue/grey. Now you did it though, the paint supplier is now going to have to match the paint custom for you
Looking great

Re: 68 build thread. It has begun :)
Yep it is a cool color. Its just something that the body shop mixed up. Unfortunately there is not code for it but he said that he should be able to do it again.

Re: 68 build thread. It has begun :)
Looking good if they can come up with a paint code of some type I would love to have it. My 68 firebird is close to that and Im going to start redoing it and that would be a great color for it.

Re: 68 build thread. It has begun :)
It is a nice color. The paint guy said that he could match it again or get really close to it.

Re: 68 build thread. It has begun :)
UPDATE:
Ok here is the latest. I am waiting for a tac/vac lens from Wes at Classic heartbeat and then the rest of this sucker will be put back together. Here is whats in pieces. The inner fenders need to be put on, as well as the dash. Need to install a new under hood wiring harness since I pinched the heck out of the old one that was there bad enough that I have a short now. I also need to notch one drivers side front bumper bracket so it will clear the redhead steering gear. The plan is this. Notch the bumper bracket and adjust the bumper, install inner fenders, tighten down/adjust drivers side fender, install new under hood wiring harness, and lat but not least put in the new tac/vac lens (once its here) and install the dash. I think taking a day off may be needed for this Once all that is done then I get out the timing light and get it all timed up. Then it will be bleed the brakes and install new master cylinder.
