Re: Killers 5.3L install
Not hardly! My truck is totally gutted we got a little carried away and I'm upgrading EVERYTHING! If it's not an upgrade then don put his personal touch on it so that it is better than new. Again, keep a close eye out for all of the changes and remember I'm paying to have this done!

Re: Killers 5.3L install
finally got the engine and trans wired up... this is a totally custom harness, it has the extra non-used wires taken out, all the connections are GM factory weatherpack connectors,re-pinned the ECM and TCM, and added a main fuse for the whole truck (both inside and out)..it has the throttle by wire, that im anxious to see it work.. the bare wires are for the bulkhead connection...
also took great care to hide all the wires, which is a feat in itself.. Last edited by 68 short step; 01-10-2008 at 08:48 AM. |

Re: Killers 5.3L install
The absolute work of a genius! Man was I lucky when I found you. Outstanding job. The wiring harness was a cluster this weekend, now it looks as if it just came from the general motors plant!

Re: Killers 5.3L install
also just a FYI all the wires are correct color, so a GM scymatic of this engine and trans will be accurate..

Re: Killers 5.3L install
Nice work on the wiring.
Is there anything available to cover up the coils on a 5.3. ? I've seen a couple of engines with some type of chrome plate, but the quality wasnt that good and you could still see the coils from the side.

Re: Killers 5.3L install
the body mnts are reuse-able, but the hardware needs replaceing, the bolts are pretty corroded... i think the mnts were replaced at one point, and the hardware was not... so it would'nt hurt to replace all of it..

Re: Killers 5.3L install
worked on the truck with the wife (shes shows us the proper technique to line up the engine), so heres the progress report...
i mocked up the dual row, finned, frame mounted trans cooler... useing AN fittings and -6 braided line. also got the bed pulled off and started to fit the fuelcellguy 18 GAL fuel cell with intank pump..after removing the spare tire mount ( i think thats what its for anyway) it fit good and was nice and level with the top of the frame rails...also continuing chipping away at the bodywork... man just think of if i got 2 days a week off work!! Re: Killers 5.3L install
Just curious, are you going to swap the fuel rails with an 03 or older setup or are you going to buy an external fuel pressure regulator? The fuel cell shows supply and return lines, so I take it thats its not internally regulated like the 04+ setup your engine came from.
