Re: Project "Dream Truck"
Thanks guys for the complements! It helps to keep me motivated. Like i mentioned i am going to think about it this weekend before i do anything. The problem is that i like things to be perfect and I know if i don't do exactly what i want or something doesn't come out exactly how i want i will honestly go crazy. I have high expectations for this truck and maybe there too high for my abilities. That could be why this is my second frame for one truck. Also i would love to build classic cars and trucks for a part time job/hobby down the road and I would love to be able to have a rolling business card.
On another note i decided on the color. I will be painting the truck with House of Kolor True Blue paint. I painted some flames for a guy a few years ago and i used the True Blue for the color of the flames (his choice of colors) and i fell in love with it. I was originally going to go with a red but I thought blue would be slightly different and still look sick with the charcole grey wheels and frame. I will see if i can find a pic of something painted with True Blue.

Re: Project "Dream Truck"
hey man I was just curious what thickness wall you built the frame table out of, I was going to build something similar in design and planned on using 1/8" I won't be building the whole truck up there, just the frame by it's self, you think that would be ok?

Re: Project "Dream Truck"
I was cleaning out my garage (yeah i know it doesn't look like it in majority of the pics but i do clean) when i came across a few pics of my old chevelle i used to have. I sold it to pay for this project but after looking at the pics i kind of wish i never sold it. I have always loved the 65's body style the best. I know that majority of people like the 69-70 chevelle but that is great for me. I like to be a little different. I bought this chevelle about 4 or so years ago because i needed a daily driver. Seriously. I drive a work truck during the day but needed something to drive after work. Anyways here are some pics.
Josh ps. I scanned the photos so the image quality isn't the best.

Re: Project "Dream Truck"
Nice 65! I have always liked the 64/5 bodys as wel but settled for our 67. We have had it about 2yrs now and are the 3rd owners. It is a factory 138 car with only 30k miles on it. It is an SS 396 4spd that has had the color changed from the light yellow to what you see now. It is not # matching but that is why we could afford it Funny how alot of us have the same likes.
So have you gotten to the bed mounts yet? Kevin LFD Inc. |

Re: Project "Dream Truck"
I haven't got to the bed mounts yet but i think i have figured out how i am going to do them. I am trying to think things through and since i am going to be making my own custom wood planks I am trying to get creative on how them mount. I thought about doing a wood bed floor but have it look like it is one solid piece. Not sure what route i will take yet because i still love those shiny stainless bed strips.
Nice chevelle! I like the 67's also. I sold that red hard top but when i was 17 I purchased a 65 chevelle SS conv. that i still have. My plan was to build this truck and keep it for a year or two then sell it to fund the conv. chevelle. It is going to be a complete custom with every performance upgrade know to man. We will see though because i am falling in love with the truck. Especially after i drive it. One of these days we will have to get together at a car show and meet up kevin! Josh

Re: Project "Dream Truck"
That is quite possible. My parents-inlaw live on Ardilla. I took it over there all the time. That is crazy how small of a world we live in. I don't remember if i have asked you this before but where in Central Cal do you live? Talk to you later.

Paso Robles. I go to church at the 1st Assembly down the road from your inlaws. When my '54 is on the road, I'll try to meet up with you somewhere if you're cool with that. It looks like you have a true talent for building great rides!

You're right, what a small world. If you see us in church, stop me. My '54 won't be done for a while as we are going through our finances and setting new goals. We want our house paid for by the time our 3 year old is graduated high school. Feel free to PM me if you want to hook up some weekend or at least meet at church. Daniel U

Re: Project "Dream Truck"
Very nice, I love the do it attitude. I too want to build em for a living, maybe in my next life. I plan to retire at 52 ish and start my second life, I already am a welder fabricator, but that isn't my day job. I need to hang out with Nathan and pick up what I can, but he is a ways away (5-6hrs)! One day, I love the Vette idea, and as much as I have tried to resist the temtation of cutting up my 2wd Blazer, i may do the dropmember with the C-5 stuff.
