Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
No progress to report. I got the unfinished cab and bed back from the bodyman (uncle). He decided he did not feel motivated to work on it any more. I got some of my money back, but i would have preffered to haved the truck work all done. Folks, sometimes thats what happens when you put down sizable down payment and family is mixed into it. Live and learn. For now, i'm going to focus on the getting the running gear completed and installed. God Bless everyone and Happy Thanksgiving Day.

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
Just keep at it. As long as you have your priorities right it will happen. I have three kids, worked on two new houses (old-new & current) and had my first pool contractor walk away with $27K. Oh, and I've purchased about five other trucks since I tore my project apart. So enjoy your family and remember, this is suppose to be fun!

Amen to that. I anticipated hickups on this project and this is just that- a hickup. I'm not letting this bodywork set back bum me out. It'll get done when the time is right.

Wow that kind of bites!!!! I NEVER deal with family!!!! it usually ends up with problems.... Another thing if I have to give someone a deposit in order to do work for ,I wont do busisness with them because it means that they are fly by type of people.... If they are working on one of my vehicles they have the vehicle for colateral, if they are working on one of my properties the same thing applies...

Hey, nice to hear from you Big Al. Thats good, sound advice you got there. I had heard he was a bit of a flaker, but I wasn't expecting him to flake out on me since he 's my uncle. Like I said earlier - live and learn. Your truck is looking really really good. How is your newborn? Mine is now 14.5 pounds and about 24 inches. They say momma milk is best. I think it has steroids mixed in. The kid is a chunk.

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
Hey MisterE,
No worries man....just a hiccup!!!....I had the same thing happen to me...BUT my truck was gone for 8 months, and when i got it back the body work that was done was crap! (Check out my build thread for details)....BUT this weekend was a step ahead...I FINALLY started it up.....man it sounds good!!!...So it's been roughly a year since I've had it back from the craptastic body guy....and it's painted (after a trip to a GOOD body shop) and runs....there is hope....keep gettin it man!!!

I am very happy that everything is great with the baby, who knows these two babies will be sporting our rust buckets when we are sitting in the nursery home.... Mr E the baby is doing great we just took him to the peditrician to get his two month shots and he measured 24 3/4 and weighted 13.1 I agree about mamas milk does the body good. This little babies are just beyond words I just dont know if I have more patience now but it is so awesome you know having a 19 yearold, a 9 year old and now my two month old talk about a diversity in Al's house.... I am just trying to get my new wheels but I have not made up my mind yet, however I did polished the heck out of my torque thrust and replaced all the wheel lug nuts and I am in the process of trying to get some new center caps as I never had any ever since I bought the truck, I am just trying to make it look half way descent for now but it is screaming for new wheel and tires...I wish you were closer I have an outstanding body shop here locally they are a class act and not crazy expensive....

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
Big Al..Don't rush getting the wheels until you're 100% sure. Its a big investment you want to get right the first time. Besides, I really dig the torque thrust look myself. Its classic hot rod.
Black Beauty..I'll get some progrss pics up soon as I get gettin'. I know how addicting it can be looking at thos progress pics. Take care bro. |

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
Thanks for taking the time to check out the tread. If it inspires or helps anyone with their build than its all worrth it. The build is on pause right now. Minor financial issues until California gets the budget balanced. I have to conserve a little. I'll post more as more progress is made. Thanks for the well wishes. MisterE

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
Greetings, On the surface things appear on hold for the moment. I have been focusing on the drivetrain and just got my 700R rebuilt. I went with a nonstall converter but it does have all new internals and a shift kit. I also bought some new ceramic coated medium length header last week. I'll post pics of everything when I drop it all in for mock up. The familia is doing great. The boys are all growing too fast. Summer is right around the corner and i'll be off for about 11 weeks. No excuses for me now. Take care all.

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
OK folks the engine and tranny are between the framerails. First time in almost 5 years. Got couple of issues: 1) the angle at which they are sitting doesn't seem right. I'm thinking it may have to do with either the 700R transmount or tubular crossmember. 2) The headers rub on the engine mounts. Any suggestions for either of the issues?

What headers are you using? I assume ECE?

Re: MisterE72's Build thread: Too much Homework
I should have gone with their Sanderson headers, but I got these for 1/3 the price from the performance folks at the Pontiac/GM dealership. They told me they were for a chevelle, but "might" fit a truck. ECE knows theirs fit.
