Re: 69 cst-10
Thanks 68,
Today, seeing as i had the fans done, i let the engine run for about 15 min. Had to shut it off after about 10 from a blown fuse shutting off the fans. had a 20 amp but with a 17amp and 8 amp in line, was a little to much. Replaced it with a 25 amp and no problems. The engine idles high but it would sit between 180-200. Big fan kicks on at about 210 and drops like a rock after that. At 200 just touching the throttle would shake the whole truck. No hesitation as of yet and it hasnt even been timed. just set by hand. Needless to say, im pretty happy with this as the first long run.

Re: 69 cst-10
That's awesome! Drop a video next time.
The shake isn't from a vibration is it? |

Re: 69 cst-10
The shaking when the throttle is hit is from the TQ twisting the engine inside the mounts.

Re: 69 cst-10
I turned the idle down a little after the long run and now you can tell it is a few degrees off on timing. Sitting inside it when i hit the throttle you can feel and see the whole truck twist. The video does not show it much but believe me. The video is from my cell so the sound cuts out because its to loud for the cell.

Re: 69 cst-10
I have the 3in Pypes Violators on the end of the headers. Ill only have about 3ft of pipe added once i have it done so will still be loud.

Re: 69 cst-10
Timing is not to far off, maby a few dregrees and i dont see much of a slow throttle response.

Re: 69 cst-10
Did you post a run down of what you have in that engine and what machine work you did?

Re: 69 cst-10
No, between my signature and the HP link i cover most of it. I dont have any work to the heads and just a .30 over, decking to the block. It was stock bore in excellent shape when i got it. The dart heads have the same combustion Hart shape as their Alum heads do.

Re: 69 cst-10
For some reason I thought you were running a roller cam. I'm starting to get my threads crossed.
I have a couple of questions in addition to your sig. Do you know what size domes your pistons have? And are you running a timing chain or a gear drive setup? |

Re: 69 cst-10
I dont have the part # on me but the pistons are Keith Black forged. Will have to find the # for the specs. I do have 119CC chambers and with the pistons it is about 10.25:1 compression. It is a single roller timing chain.

Re: 69 cst-10
119CC is the Cylinder head combustion chamber not the piston. Piston is about 12-18cc

Re: 69 cst-10
Yeah I got the size of the combustion chambers.
But if you have 119cc chambers, a bored 454 and still 10.25:1 then you've got some BIG domes. By my calculations, that's roughly a 25cc dome!!! Yeah I know, 25 isn't necessarily huge. Last edited by highperf4x4; 01-28-2010 at 09:57 PM. |

Re: 69 cst-10
This is with a stock bore and making a couple of assumptions too though like 0 deck clearance.

Re: 69 cst-10
It is a zero deck but has a 4.280 bore.
