Re: High School Build 72 Chevy LWB

well long time of no action in this thread but the toyota got blown up replaced the motor and 4x4'ed it and drove it and the block was cracked so it was on its way to get a new motor and it gave up and it just sat and sat and chopped it up and sold the parts but now i finally got the chevy registered and got to drive it on the last day of school no tail lights or brakelights runs great drives great had a major oil leak but fixed it now i'm attempting to find out why i have no tailights, backup lights, brakelights, running lights or dash lights no power to the fuse box my friends dad told me its a fusible link thats made to melt and hes almost 100% sure thats what it is but heres a more recent picture

Re: High School Build 72 Chevy LWB

do give ideas now looking at the pictures it does look like too much black but i do think a green/white truck with little parts black might look good but what do you think i should do? I just put my new fuel sending unit in and hopefully it works it reads a half a tank and the guage doesnt tank anymore when you turn the key off. I also painted the cab gloss white it looks so good that it makes the black look like crapola pictures in a bit. Just for ****s and giggles heres what my little toyota above looked like when i took it apart

Re: High School Build 72 Chevy LWB

well got a new hitch with the little light adapter that plugs into the back harness painted the inside of the bed and the bed floor with a texture coating we did on our 8ft trailer to and i have been driving it every day working on taking trash from my grandparents house haulin the trailer back and forth and hauled my dads boat yesterday and one problem though its leaking oil from the around the valve covers but i just changed the gaskets hoping that would fix it. Cause it hits the headers and smokes.. any ideas?

Re: High School Build 72 Chevy LWB

Well for those who are still following the slow build of the truck. i figured out where the oil was coming from i believe the rockers or valve springs were rubbing against the covers and they wore holes through them so i got new valve covers and put them on. Question #1 is that because my valves need to be adjusted or whatever. Ive got some pictures of what happened and the roof is now dent free and primered. For some reason i have really been looking into a 5.3 vortec swap for reliability and mileage and plus it would be nice to push the pedal to the floor and fog the tires then hooks and takes off. Ideas? From the research i can get a ready to run 5.3 for $1995.00 just drop it in with the 4 wire hookup and run the fuel line to a pump and boom you got a 20mpg beast.. just need Motor mounts and tranny mounts driveshaft, exhaust etc... it would be a little while till that but I'm just throwing out ideas here. oh and i put in a new master cylinder because my cap and gasket were wasted plus there was a bunch of sludge in the old one so i just put a new one on. heres the most recent pictures i've taken

Talking Slow build 72 Chevy longbed

Well this coming friday theres a local guy thats going to tune the carb/adjust timing/get the choke right just so i know its right and don't have to worry about it its becoming more primered then black but im going to work out all the dents and imperfections of the drivers door/cab/drivers fender and probably drivers door. The passenger fender has good rot at the bottom front corner and the bed is wasted. The hood just has this dime dent at the front i can't really fix (can't get to the back of the dent) So far the roof looks dent free and drivers door too. Fender is almost minus the trim holes i do not want to reuse heres a couple more pictures

1. It doesnt run it was my dads dump run truck and he was comin back down from the dump and heard a knock and told himself oh it will go away and of course it did he downshifted when he really shouldnt of too high of rpms and blew the #2 connecting rod thru the pan.

2.the bed is 1 sheet of very rotten plywood you could touch and the wood would just fall out

3. its got some rust

Good Things
1. Its all original exept the engine has been rebuilt once its a chevy 350 4 bolt main with a 4 spd granny low no powersteering original big steering wheel seat is ok condition
looks like you might need a new oil pan
