That is to say, if you want 'em, shoot me a PM and we'll work something out. I'm not planning on using them.

Made some progress today. Pulled the engine and trans and mounted them both on their respective stands.

Re: '77 3+3 C30 Dually - "The "Sled"
Uh, yeah...
I scored a steering wheel, but if you want to trade me for a set of the standard "dumbo" mirrors in good condition, I'll send you all the power mirror stuff. PM me to work out the details. |

Re: '77 3+3 C30 Dually - "The "Sled"
Started running fuel lines today.
Supply, return, vent and the pump and filter. Still have to make room for a brake line in there. Originally, I was going to custom bend all the brake and fuel lines, but...screw that. I just cleaned up the OE units. They'll be fine. When you're rebuilding a truck that's over 21 feet long, even a three car garage starts to get mighty small. |

Re: '77 3+3 C30 Dually - "The "Sled"
Decided to pull the trigger on a rear disk conversion. Ordered/picked up the rotors today.
It was a bee-yotch trying to track down a dually-specific conversion thread, so once I gather all the info together, I plan to write up a little "how-to" thread complete with part numbers and whatnot. Stay tuned... |

Re: '77 3+3 C30 Dually - "The "Sled"
No kit.
I just snagged the rotors today from Napa (’03 Chevy Express DRW). Probably go with DIY4x for the brackets and I’ll use my ¾ ton calipers for mock up, but ultimately I’ll end up with the Eldorado units because I really want an emergency brake. |

Why not run the TH400 instead of a 4l80e? or did i miss something? o well, i love the grill on the 87-91 gmc burbs... will definately be one of the cleanest duallys one these forums!

Re: '77 3+3 C30 Dually - "The "Sled"
Been too damn hot to do anything on the truck lately, but I managed to get a little experimentation done in the interim.
I took another factory engine temp gauge and modified my cluster so I could fit it in the blank spot on the lower left. The plan is to use this as a trans fluid temp gauge. I still have to figure out how I’m going to designate it as the trans fluid temp (dry transfer decals, maybe?) versus engine coolant temp, but that’s a topic for another day. Pardon the crappy cell phone pic. |

Re: '77 3+3 C30 Dually - "The "Sled"
After checking out Dirty Larry and Blake_H's builds, I'm thinking about an 8.1. There would be a slight increase in MPG's over the 7.4, but I'm really more interested in the 340HP 455 lb/ft of torque ratings from a stock engine running a factory tune. I've read several different accounts where a minor ECM tweak can yield 400+HP and 500+ lb/ft of torque.

Re: '77 3+3 C30 Dually - "The "Sled"
Not too much going on lately. Been busy with other stuff around the house and my Shortbed has been sucking up a lot of my garage time these days. The wife is getting on me to wrap this thing up, so I’ll start to get serious with it around the end of the year if/when I get my bonus.
I’d like to do the 8.1 swap. Seems like it’s the way to go if you plan on sticking with a gas-powered engine in a truck like this. I need to start keeping an eye out for an engine and trans. I’d like to do an 8.1 w/a NV4500. |

Re: '77 3+3 C30 Dually - "The "Sled"
Looks like we're pretty close on the ideals funny how its still a popular swap for as long as its been around now. Love seeing the progress on the chassis keep it up

Aside from some detail work (securing loose lines, etc.), the fuel system is done.
