Re: Good 70 SWB
Been doing a lot of work on the engine compartment. Wirelooms are in and I have the Willwood Master cylinder mocked up and lines connected. I used a 4 core HD radiator from Champion. Still need to come up with a cover for it. Also installed Sanderson CC11 headers. The drivers side had plenty of room from the frame rail. However on the passenger I had to notch the frame rail about 3/8 of an inch.

Re: Good 70 SWB
I installed 72 VAN tilt steering column, I am using original dash cluster. I did cut the dash to install a double din radio. And I have my AC mocked up under the dash. Been working on wiring and getting vents installed. Will being working on fabricating a frame for my bucket seats so I can use the original mounting holes. Also using Original AC controller.

Brake and trans line look good. Sorry we spent more time working on my seat frame and not getting to yours. Something to do another day.

Re: Good 70 SWB
So I know it's been awhile since last update but I have made progress and have pictures that I know everyone likes to see.. I had to scrap the idea of using the Vintage AIR surefit kit that I had and the Original AC control head. Since I was going with custom bulk head the Surefit Kit was just too close to my bulk head under the dash I could not get the hoses to route correctly. So I purchased a Vintage Air GenII compact unit and mounted it up under the Dash. This provided the clearance I needed to to route the AC and Heater Hoses. Also had to redo Dash and put in new Slimline electronic control unit.

Re: Good 70 SWB
I have began mocking up the bed getting wood bed installed and all holes drilled. Then I will take back apart paint the bed and finish the wood and then reassemble. The 4 boards you see in the pick that are not stained Black I ended up having to have re-make as I lost the originals over the 3 year span I waited to get to the point of installing.... Thanks to SilverBear on this forum for helping in making those.

Just read through your build thread. I'm just getting ready to get started on mine. I am planning on many of the same ideas for my 71 swb. Good work so far and keep it up. Subscribed.

Re: Good 70 SWB
Finally decided how I am going to approach my bed fill. I got a billet door from Speedway motors and installed it. I probably should have went with larger sized one as it is bit tight to get my hand in to open the fuel tank. But I was worried the larger size I would not have enough board for it. It mounts with threaded studs so not screws are visible.
All in all I think it is going to look good and work well for access to the filler. Sorry for blurry picts. |

Re: Good 70 SWB
It is looking awesome! Did you use single stage or base/clear for your paint? I'm jealous as it's way too cold to primer and paint here.
