Re: So it begins.. Again..

Wow, not sure what else to say about that wood bed cover, but AWESOME!!!

The truck looks badass!

Couple questions....

1) Were there any issues running the steel 15" wheel and a 3" drop spindle???

2) Also, what width, and backspacing do you have on the steelies???

I have a 66 lwb that has disc brakes from an 84, but I hate the wheels on it and want to go to a simple black steelie!

Help me out...haha

Thanks, and again, trucks looks the best!

Sorry for the late reply guys!! Thanks for all the kind words guys!! Means a lot!!

No probs with the spindles. Don't know the width or backspace on the rims, I have had them for years now.. I can see if I can dig up a pick for you.

The tubing is inch.

Looking forward to the CCP show!!

Thanks Delmo!

Been working on the engine the past couple days since I can't drive.

Put in new Truss supports for my drop member.
Put some bullet hub caps on.
put in a aluminum radiator with fan shroud.
new water pump
fixed dang exhaust leak.
fixed a really bad oil leak coming out of the timing cover. Nightmare.
Put some spacers on my motor mounts to get the oil pan off the Rack.

One of the last things that has been driving me nuts! It runs so rich, smells so bad. I can't even drive my girlfriend around without her whining about the smell. I have asked pretty much everyone of my buddies. And it like asking them to decipher the da vinci code. I found a place called C & J engineering, but they want a 100 bucks to look at then they tell me how much it is going to cost.. I have a 1406 600 edelbrock. One of you guys might be running into this also. I have redone my plugs, and done all the lil things that you might think would help but nada.

I will try hobbling down stairs and take some pix of my progress.

Been working on a tee shirt of my ride. I don't know if I can post it cause it has my .co on it?? Its still in progress but thought you guys might like it.

Re: So it begins.. Again..

Very nice truck. The drawing looks like the stuff my brother makes out of metal cutouts. As for the carb running rich, I would think you all ready adjusted the air fuel screws. The other possibility is the float levels? Also check on the choke side right in front underneath for a small hole (vacuum) my sons 1406 was running rich also and a little ruff till we plugged the leak. Is the carb new?

Re: So it begins.. Again..

I have had that problem with a lot of carbs .. to see if it is the float levels or trash between the needle and seat just use a pair of vise grips, the small long nose ones, and close off the gas line (if it is rubber ,or disconnect and plug it) and see if it smoothes out .. if it does let it run til it runs out of gas then fire it up again and see if runs the same way .. if it does , them you will have to check the needle and seats for trash and check for the proper float level.. if they get dropped in shipment it can change the float level...

Re: So it begins.. Again..

I will try that.. The thing that scares me, is it ran really rich will the old 1406 carb. That's one of the reasons why I got this new one.

Re: So it begins.. Again..

New carb and still the same problem? What engine do you have and modifications? Intake? The engine forum is real good at solving these issues, especially if you give them your whole engine specs.
