Anyways back on topic. Tom and his daughter just left for their trip back to LA via Bakersfield () with the finished cab. It turned out great and Tom was pleased and now he will be finishing this build thread with the rest of the pics. Let me tell you all what he has finished in the garage for this truck should blow most of us away for a daily driver/ show truck and I for one can't wait to see some pics. So the cab is being dropped off tonight at the body shop to get what little body work their is done and have the bottom side and fire wall sprayed so he can then mount it back on the frame and get all his panels lined up before having the entire truck shot. So stay tuned it should be a great ride. Kevin LFD Inc. |

Where do you get things such as that captured nut you welded on for the a/c?

Re: LFD's project white lightning -- 1968 fleetside "basically stock"
Kevin,
Thanks for doing such a great job on the cab!! Just got home, nice uneventful drive back.. and we also amazingly did not hit any rain!!. so the cab is safely with my painter with the tip and flip dolly. Again thanks for all the outstanding work and it is always great to see your family you are a lucky guy in many ways. I will be taking over this thread and hopefully finishing the truck to the level that you started!! Tom Last edited by 1971short4X4; 12-07-2009 at 02:39 AM. |

Re: LFD's project white lightning -- 1968 fleetside "basically stock"
Glad you made it safe as I expect to make up in the morning to a fresh Sunny California blanket of snow Yep they are calling for 2"+ on the valley floor so good timing on coming up today. So I assume Bakersfield did not happen?
Looking forward to the progress. Kevin LFD Inc. |

Re: LFD's project white lightning -- 1968 fleetside "basically stock"
finally got the cab back from the painter.
a lot has changed in the last year. decided that kevin's work on the cab was too good to paint white. so the truck is now being painted 'new formula red' looking at the firewall i think this was the best choice. Also decided to run a vortec, small block that i built with 700r4 tranny. the entire frame and suspension (every single piece) was taken apart and powder coated. the cab has been painted underneath, inside, and the firewall. next will be putting the front fenders on, hood etc so they can be blocked with the cab and doors, then it will come apart again for each piece to be seperatly painted . |

Re: LFD's project white lightning -- 1968 fleetside "basically stock"
The cab was at the paint shop on a tilt / flip dolly where it was painted inside and underneath . Then I put the cab back on the powder coated frame and all of the body panels on the truck. It has been at the body shop the past few months where each panel was fit and then block sanded. The truck should be painted any day now and i will post some pics. I am very excited. Also we test fitted the factory moldings and I think it will look great

Not yet. It is at the paint shop getting the final color sanding done. Then it needs to be reassembled before I flat bed it home

Re: LFD's project white lightning -- 1968 fleetside "basically stock"
Thanks for all the complements. I was very lucky as Kevin (Lfd) and the paint shop did a very nice job and the truck is unbelievably straight with perfect paint. If you are interested ill post more pictures of some of the unique thinks we did. Thanks Tom
