Re: 67 Shortwide Resto

I got the new tailgate in high build and revisited a few areas that needed to be built up a little more. Yesterday I got the inner bottom of the drivers side door patch panel on order along with the Rear Roll Pan that I just decided I wanted to install instead of a rear bumper. Things are coming along and it looks like until the weather gets better Im not going to shoot the sealer, paint and clear coat. The weather has been overcast and misserable the last couple of days so its giving me a little more time to smooth out all the wrinkles. I hope to start painting not this coming up weekend but the next weekend. Here are a few pictures of the forward progress.

67cheby,
The guy I bought mine through told me the same thing. My Son seems to be able to fab just about anything I put in front of him and he will work it until it fits. He's a lot more patient than I am so I will put him on it and it should look a lot better than it does now when he gets done with it. Thanks for the Heads up on the fit.

67chevy1series,

Get a good Spot Weld cutter and a sharp center punch and you will be just fine. They are never fun but when its all said and done it will all be worth the effort.

So did you get your rocker panel off? My wife and i went to a car show this weekend and ended up in a huge down pour of rain. I was so soaked that my hat was dripping through the bill of the hat. No rain is going to get between me and a bunch of great looking old cars and trucks. I saw a 67 Short Step out at the show and it was a really nice truck. The color was kind of weird but i think it was a medium green with blue pearl. I never seen one quite that color but i like seeing new colors that i haven't seen before. I hope your rocker is coming off with few problems.

That sounds like a good plan. We are doing final prep for the sealer coats. Im hoping that maybe this weekend we might be able to shoot the sealer. Still have some sanding to do. Has anyone used the UPOL High Build Primer/Sealer as sealer and if you did how did you mix it for the Sealer Application? Thanks for any help with this.

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto

Got the Roll Pan installed today and Im waiting for the long and strong to dry so I can start doing the body work. We cut out the bad metal in the bottom of the drivers side door and tomorrow we are going to install the patch panel in the door. My Son and I are really kicking this project into high gear so we can get it done and start to fix his 64 Shortwide. Here are a few pictures of the forward progress and hopefully we will be shooting the sealer coat on Monday.

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto

I forgot about my helper!!! He seems to like to find the dirtiest spot in the shop floor and lay in it, wet or dry then go into the house and leave sanding dust foot prints all over the house. The Wife gets mad at us but he's 15 so I use the excuse that he's an old man. Still doesn't fly with the Wife.

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto

Today we Sanded the bed and decided to POR 15 it due to light surface rust. We are going to Prime it tomorrow with POR 15 Primer and then probably next week paint it with a single stage paint along with the interior. We spent a lot of time today doing last minute touch ups to get ready to shoot the Sealer Coat tomorrow. We are going to do a really good wipedown in the morning and shoot the primer. Well I will spill the beans on the paint job. We have decided to shoot the truck Patriot Blue Metalic and Platinum Silver Metalic. Everything below the lower Molding will be Silver and Everything above the molding will be Blue. Im thinking about putting a Silver Pinstripe around the entire truck that will break up all the Blue but am not sure at this time. I need to see what it will look like with all that blue before I make my Decision. No pictures till tomorrow after we shoot the Sealer.

Re: 67 Shortwide Resto

We shot the Sealer and now we are going to sand it down with 500 Grit. It turned out pretty good but it looks like I need to revisit some bodywork on the Drivers Side Door. It seems like that Drivers side door has been a pain in the backside since we started this project. So anyway here are a few pictures of the Sealer we shot today. We are going to shoot the bed and the Cab this coming up weekend with the single stage Patriot Blue Metalic. Im hoping it all turns out good.
