Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Bottoms of these doors were swiss cheese, so I didn't feel bad stealing the window frames. The Blue and white cab that they came off of was also totally gone on the bottom. Someone had repaired it with newspapers stuffed in the rockers with bondo liberally spread on top. Really nice, long lasting repair. The fun part was the small fire when the plasma cutter hit the newspaper layer. It was very helpful when I was cold that day. At least I could use the newspapers to date the repair, Oct 7, 1992.
Onto trying to weld air on the drivers rear window channel, yeah that's not gonna work. I had to cut and weld in the eighth that I was short. Wasting time, but it worked fine.

Green truck is now donating more sheet metal to the patient on the operating table. I'll be getting rid of my old inefficient heat and air system in favor of a new one, so a new firewall is in order.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Here is another opportunity for a solution. The burb roofline has a very slight pinch waist as it continues to the rear, a truck does not. So I encountered a little problem of the drip rails not meeting up just right. I decided the best way to attack this issue would be simply to slice off the drip edge, weld in a tiny strip of metal, and grind it all smooth. The drip rail gets a liquid caulk on top which also helps cover up where I welded the roof back down.

More self etching primer. My goal was to be ready for block and prime before the summer began. I am almost current on my posts with where I actually am now. Yes, I have been leading a few of you on.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN** The truck Chevrolet should have built.
Tell me more about the blue stuff in the drip rail (also looks like its on the front passenger side below the window) is it seam sealer or some kind of special drip rail filler? Thanks! The roof has made some real progress too, when i first saw the pick showing the different slopes i was about mortafide.. over my head..

It's almost like cheating. It is Eastwood 2K self leveling seam sealer. A 2 part epoxy that self mixes in the caulk nozzle. It comes out as a liquid, so you need to have your part on level ground. After about 3 minutes it starts to get slow, that's when I trained it down the drip rail rear side. 2 minutes later it is gooey and unworkable. Ten minutes it is hard. Roof is basically finished now and looks totally fine/factory. I'll probably block it down 2 more times before paint, but that's another lesson.
