My Dads 70 CST has the tint option, it gives a very light tint to the side windows, back window and wing windows, Im not sure about the windshield though, I have never noticed a tint to it.

I saw a transmission cooler on a 72 blazer once that was supposedly factory, could have been a dealer add on.

Has anyone ever heard of a trailer hitch option or did they just use the bumper hitches back then?

Wasn't a Detroit Locker offered in the Eaton axle? Would the maximum traction option be the detroit on an eaton rearend? I think Yukon Jack has a detroit in histruck.
Also, the Eaton was a stronger axle than the dana 60, at least on paper. The base GVW for 3/4 tons was 6200#. The rated capacity of the HO-72 Eaton was 7200#. I'm pretty sure its bigger (physically) than the dana, too.

Also, on a side note, how about a H.D. front drive axle (on 3/4 tons only)? It is listed on pg 74 of my owners manual, now that I am checking GVW's. Is this even an option?

How 'bout this - factory ASHTRAY delete plate?

I've been in/through a lot of these trucks. Until yesterday, I had never seen a factory ashtray delete plate!

I live in PA where they salt the hell out of the roads and have only surface rust and a little heavy rust area on the front passenger front fender way up front but I think this was caused by a battery leak! Granted of course my truck was used in a salvage yard to haul parts around for 15 years before I got it! While the yard might have saved me some rust it was sure good at giving me a couple bonus dents!

Gee_Emm and CPNE, do you have a picture of the Suburban luggage carrier? I saw a 'burb for sale in Snowflake and it had an aluminum carrier bolted to the roof and it had little bowties in some of the upright pieces. Does that sound like the right one?

69 GMC, the base rear GVWR axle was the HO5200 at 5200# in 3/4 ton trucks. The Dana 60 was 5500# This is just rear axle GVWR and not vehicle GVWR. My 70 is a 7500 GVWR truck and has the 3.54 Dana 60 that most big blocks came with.

Their is a huge discrepancy in GVWR based on optional equipment. Max GVWR could have been had with either axle in a 3/4 ton truck. I have/had 4 different 3/4 tons. My 70 big block is a 7500# with 3.54 60, my 70 Longhorn a 6600# with 3.73 60 and another parts truck was the 6200# with an as yet undetermined 60. All GMCs, all 60's, all leaf sprung. My 72 Sub is a 7000# with the HO5200, and it MIGHT be one of the "ultra-rare" 3.73 units and is a coil spring truck.

mikep, not all of the Dana 60's were full floaters. There were 6 lug semi-flaoters available in 67-68, possibly only in GMCs.

Anyone have a picture of what the tire carrier looks like? Or is the one in the picture just the regular kind? Anyone ever seen a factory trailer hitch?

I had an original slider, I still have it (not for sale) but I put a new one in the truck because the old slider leaked and the damn grab handles kept coming off
