Re: Classic Industries dash pad
What would the dash pad look like underneath if you removed all of the vinyl and foam? Would the remaining steel pad be paintable/presentable as a dash pad, or could it be patched up/modified to look OK? In the desert southwest any dash will eventually turn to dust.

Re: Classic Industries dash pad
Just installed mine that I got from Summit in my 77 and it fits great. I can see though how some of you would have issues with the later body styles and the speakers in each side of the dash as opposed to the center. Mine went in so easy I took it out 2 times to trim the sides because of the flashing interfering with the door seal. No big deal.

Re: Classic Industries dash pad
So where is the cheapest place to buy the direct fit OEM dash pads? It sounds like they are double in price, but if they are a perfect fit and require no adjustment it sounds like its the way to go. So is one place better than another for purchasing one?

Re: Classic Industries dash pad
I have 2 OEM GM still in an unopened box left:
http://store.73-87chevytrucks.com/me...tegory_Code=DC I also have the vinyl skinned aftermarket versions and they fit almost as well as the factory http://store.73-87chevytrucks.com/me...tegory_Code=DC I also can get the rubbery ones, but they are not advertized. The 1973-80 versions in vinyl skinned are being worked on at this time also.

Re: Classic Industries dash pad
I talked to my Part Manager friend today.....if you want an OE dash pad ya better buy one now from captkaos as they are officially discontinued from GM and only 3 dealers in the US show inventory...so there are only 3 pads left from dealers.
Just an FYI. On a side not do you have an OE dash pad for a 73-80? |
