Re: 68 workhorse

the 68 is currently storage lol

so today i was cleaning the backyard to clear my giant mess and to find parts and also scrap. i also hit up the garage.

while cleaning the garage i have found out that all my full box's i had(alot of them) are there but empty. damn i got raided bad. think im now down to only 2 boxes. pretty lame!

heres some interesting stuff i found though!
headliner is still there, probably because its not metal. its still in great shape but really dusty

this is a ????? i think the cargo light from my cst. its shiney

found these knobs in my cst pile. i have no clue what they went to!

alot more of these down there

are these our truck year alternator brackets? what am i missing?

i got a couple sets of these. are they worth keeping or should i toss em in the scrap pile

whats this??

oh and if anyone recalls my parts 67... the bed was lined with what looked to be some non magnetic metal. which i thought was sweet because of scrap but.... it ended up being road signs.
i dont want to write a letter to the caltrans and ask if i can keep em(so i can scrap em, need a letter of release)

wall art???

people should buy my parts, save them from scrap! LOL

i just hung out in my spot with my boy. my girl was asleep in the van whole time =]

Re: 68 workhorse

ok so worken on building some more cash. making another scrap pile!

this is the work i did today, i disassembled the eaton rear end. for scrap lol. im going to save the gears though, maybe someone will buy? if not soon they go to scrap. once i removed the gears and bent over to pick it up.... found out it was pretty dang heavy!

im not sure if i can dissemble this fat boy more???

in the axle part u can notice the trailing arms and springs are still there.... the nut broke at the bottom and the springs wont come off. the nuts are also removed from the ubolt on the trailing arms but they wont come off???
lame! i'll also grind off the perches etc to reuse on the 72's hack job axle.

68 got a quick load up after the swap since i had to put the seats back in the van to use it.

had the doors hecka disccounted too and none sold.
getting tempted to scrap lol

i will however be scrapping the working 4 speed i removed from the 68 most likely.

Re: 68 workhorse

Do you have a torch or know someone with one? Try heating up the bolts and then heat up the area around them. That's how I got mine free on another build...they rust together to the inside of the trailing arm and the expanding and contracting of the metal with heat breaks them loose....

Re: 68 workhorse

not much to update. met up with djman and got a driveline. i also met member 71 GMCDRVR

havent had any cash for anything and the landlord keeps stopping by so i cant make a mess.

today i cleaned up the bed, i had so much junk in it. i also cleaned up the cab interior which had also become storage. i then proceeded to remove the old driveline and install the new one but i ran into two issues.
1: u joints were different
2: front part of the driveline was a slip kind or something
to solve #1 im going to buy an adapter at napa. i believe #348
for #2 i think i just remove the tail part of the tranny and slip the driveline in?

it took me a couple hours to figure out how to remove the u joing on the rear of the driveline. i discovered how to do it when i was beating it with a hammer =]

other then that i helped my friend replace the two front freeze plugs in his 69 c-10.

Re: 68 workhorse

updates!
going to get it running asap as i am moving. the landlords daughters took over and they were being major pains!
one was stealing the rent money out of the account its deposited in and i was getting accused of not paying. then the other one took over after they caught her. this one had never seen the house before or ever been to it and she put blame on me for all of the old house's defects. Many broken and worn stuff the mother would never fix.
she told me to junk my ****ty old trucks haaha

one wall of the house doesnt have electricty, i run extension cords =] that nonoperative walls outlets have melted spontaneously before and ive had the firedept out.
the other side wall is kinda falling down now. leaky roof they never would fix.you can see the waves on roof and u can see the warping in the stucco etc outside.

i really like the area(neighbors, etc) and i like that its an older house. the new houses they build nowadays just dont have any yard whatsover. the backyard is huge.

we pay more then double the rent cost on PGE! ever since they added the smart meter!
nothing can be on! never have heater on. theres no AC nor working swamper! nothing can be running at all and pge will still come out at about $1400. PGE comes by looks at guage oh its ok and they leave!

well anyways. im relocating to my buddies house about 2 blocks away. he has a 69 SWB.
going to be there while i pay some bills off and until a nice house in my town opens up that i can afford to purchase. dont care about the house size as long as it has land!
before i asked my buddy if i could stay i saw a couple houses for rent. they all belonged to same guy. nice houses but damn he wanted ridiculous deposits and no kids!
rent was 1200 on one, he wanted first and last but extra for a total of $3600!

id like to move some of my small FS parts instead of moving them. so i can probably entertain some nice package deals.

thats the news! going to hit up the junkyard this weekend for some pullies and brackets. anyone have some nice detailed pixs of setup for a 68. short pump. PS, all that stuff.thanks!

Re: 68 workhorse

kkk
well the new place im going to temporarily is a hardcore downsize. no yard, no garage.
im moved my shed to the country pad and im stuffing it full of all my parts.im afraid one day i'll end up going and seeing it missing along with all the parts. hell one day they jacked the humongous propane tank.....

i tried to assemble the pullies again to truck, but i lost the bolts and dont remember how it goes! im going to have to hit up junkyard for new ones lol.
