More progress!
They finished cutting rust off of the body. Not it's in the body shop. They are really making decent progress. |

Re: I think I've decided on a build "theme"
Thanks.
I talked to them today and he told me to start hunting for seats. I'm going to use manual truck/tahoe front bucket seats and a tahoe/suburban second row seat. I want shoulder belts on this thing plus, I think the newer seats would be a lot more comfortable. Once they get the body work done they'll prime it and pull the body off of the frame and start cleaning the frame up. Once the frame is done things will be happening pretty quick. I think this thing might be done by the end of the year. And he told me in about 3-4 weeks it would be getting close to time to order the engine and transmission. |

Second row seats might be too tall for the back of the truck. I have a set of 3rd row removable seats for mine. (not installed yet) Also, make sure they add plates under the floor for the front seats since the seatbelts are part of the actaul seat. You dont want them ripping through the floor God forbid there was an accident... |

Nice that you found a shop that actually handles its bidness in a timely manner and apparently does great work! Kinda helps reaffirm your faith in people, don't it? Stoked for ya!

Re: I think I've decided on a build "theme"
I scored a set of front and third row seats from a Tahoe as well as a console! The good news is that they all match and they are the color that I want.

Re: I think I've decided on a build "theme"
If you search the blazer forums, there's a guy in the LA area with a white one using those seats. There's a guy in KS that makes brackets for them that he used. Good score!

Re: I think I've decided on a build "theme"
After reading your post in my thread I just had to check out your build!! Looking good!!
If you decide to smooth your top just make sure who ever does any repair work to yours know it is not standard fiberglass but is SMC. I really like the look of them smoothed. Here is a bit of info on SMC repairs http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...-tutorial.html |

Re: I think I've decided on a build "theme"
Man, it's coming along nicely. Those seats look to be in mint condition. Where did you score those at? Any others there?
Your body shop bill must be huuuuuuuuge, lol. Well worth it though.

Re: I think I've decided on a build "theme"
So, I found someone's Hugger Orange 2WD Blazer and I did a rough Photoshop job of it to try to see how my Blazer will look when it's done. It's a quick job so the rims look like crap but, I think you can get the general idea. Here are some variations.
I'm kind of leaning towards the 3 or 4 with a tendency towards 3. 1. Black rims with rings and center caps. 2. Black rims with rings and no center caps. 3. Black rims with center caps and no rings 4. Black rims with no center caps or rings. What do you guys think? |

Re: I think I've decided on a build "theme"
I like 3. Its almost Yenko-ish. (yep, I am sure Don Yenko would love his name being used in that manner)

Re: I think I've decided on a build "theme"
I don't have any exciting updates. They built the brackets and mounts for the Tahoe seats and reinforced the floor so they would be safe.
Here is the rear seat mounted. Here's the bracket they built. They have more work to do but you get the idea. I like the front mounts they built! |

Re: I think I've decided on a build "theme"
A few pictures of the seat mounts being built.
Here's the rear seat mounted. Here's the 2" square tubing that was used for reinforcement. More of the front mount. They put a nice looking sheet metal cover over the mounts to clean the look up. Here's one of the seats mounted. |

Re: I think I've decided on a build "theme"
I called the guys that are working on my Blazer and the body is off of the frame and they are finishing the welding the underneath. They are going to clean up the bottom and then start on the frame. I hope to have some pictures of it in the next week or so.
It has been a painful month and a half waiting for the to get started back on it. I really want this think to be done so I can enjoy it. But, I would rather them do it right than hurry so, I guess I'll wait. |

Do you guys still see red x's? I see the images. Godaddy got hacked today and that might be why they weren't showing.
