Re: 71 Ol' Blue
Yup. Sorry if that confused anyone. Just wanted to give 71Sleeper an idea of what they look like, and how mine turned out. Oh, and I did get mine from Jonathan.

Re: 71 Ol' Blue
VA72C10 has restored gauges from time to time. But I am sure if you pm with your questions of what you need or want done Jonathan will be able to assist you. If can't do what you need he will send you in the right direction.

Re: 71 Ol' Blue
Got my gauges almost finished up. All I need now is a new circuit board. Thanks to some advice from Jonathan I was able to save the lens and I believe it cleaned up pretty good.

That looks great! And the gauges have very nice faces on them so you definitely scored on that dash!!!

Re: 71 Ol' Blue
Also what an improvement those lenses and bowtie make. Amazing how they really make a truck look better!

I got home late tonight and just could not help myself. Seeing her sitting there with all the colorful lights reflecting off her bumper and new bow tie.

Re: 71 Ol' Blue
It was a beautiful day outside today so what else would be better then sending the day playing. Started by pulling my stock pile of parts out of the cab to see where I wanted to begin. When I got everything out might as well pull at the seat and nasty carpet to see what was hiding underneath. And what I found was a pleasant surprise. The floor is solid as a rock. A little surface rust that will easily clean up.

Re: 71 Ol' Blue
Got a new heater control thanks to board member (tkorinek). What a big improvement it will make. Got my new heater core put in just got to finish hooking everything back up under dash.
Got a refurbished door latch from another board member (Va72c10), thanks. Man what a difference it makes I can actually lock my door now. Also snapped a few pics of my door and the more I take this old truck apart the happier I get, she is solid all over.

Re: 71 Ol' Blue
Got some nice hardware also from a board member (-sean-). The handles are near perfect. And the emblems I forget who I got them from but are also near perfect.

Re: 71 Ol' Blue
Looked a little rough at first but with some CLR and elbow grease they turned out good. May work on them some more but hey got to cut cost somewhere. I got bigger and more important parts to buy right now. Like my 2.5 drop spindles and new circuit board.

Re: 71 Ol' Blue
Not having to deal with rust is a definate blessing and a rust free truck is worth the extra money, that is why I bought mine I figured if the body is solid the rest would be a cake walk.

Re: 71 Ol' Blue
Yep! I am not a body man, though I would like to learn one day. I can unbolt and bolt all day. What's funny is I told my wife last night that if I had a shop right now. The truck would be in pieces and would had turned into a full restro. Who knows it still just might one day.

Re: 71 Ol' Blue
Take it from me starting with a rust free truck is huge. My truck is 2 years into the resto and I'm still working on rust. I wish I would have started with a rust free truck like yours. Can't wait to see some pics after you drop it

Re: 71 Ol' Blue
They were 15-20 years ago. Most have been sitting around so long now the rodents make quick work of destroying them. I had a rust free one parked out back. It is trashed now. If you can find one on the road that has stayed on the road (except in winter) they are more likely to only need rockers.
