Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
Got my steel today to build the frames for the seat mounts, tilt bed and the bed floor. Hope to start cutting pieces later this week.
Fab1 is having a hard time keeping me on one part of the build at a time. I think I have ADD! Renegade |

Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
Thanks for the compliments guys. Hopefully this weekend we can get a little further along on the tailgate so you can actually tell what is going on. You guys are welcome to any of the things we've tried. I'm sure they have all been done before though I have not seen the spoiler done this way. Thanks for all the help along this build. We hope to gear back up and cover some ground. So much to do with so little time. Fab1

Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
Hey Guys,
Fab1 and I made some progress this weekend. We got the mounting brackets made for the Scotts Hotrods pedal assembly and got it mounted. Fab1 got the other corner made and welded in. Then he started on the frame for the tailgate. I think it is looking great! Hopefully next weekend we will get the sheetmetal on it and start on caning the lights in the rear roll pan, finish welding the tubs in and get the bedframe welded. A few more weeks and we should get started on the cab and on the custom console. Thanks Renegade |

Nice! I can understand the time and work involved to get that done. Any details on the tailgate latch on the inside of the tailgate your willing to share?

Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
Fab 1 and I made a little more progress this weekend. We got the cans for the tailights rolled and welded, cut out the backplated for the cans.
Got them all welded. Cut the holes in the roll pan for the cans, welded them in and mounted the lights. We really like the look. We also mocked up the seat mounts to figure the height for the seats. We have decided to go with racing buckets and 4 point harness for the seats. Now if I can get the fiberglass rear fenders sold, I can order the steel fenders so we can widen them 2.5" and get them mounted. We hope to have the bed mods finished in the next couple of weekends so we can get back to work on the cab and all the custom work we have planed for it. Thanks, Renegade |

Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
If you go on You Tube, a metal genius named Lazze will show you how to tune up the shrinker/stretcher to make it work way better. I did it to mine and was impressed with the results. Here is a link.

Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
Thanks for the positive feedback all! FarmerSid, sorry for such a delay in responce. The tailgate is from Mar-K and came smoothed and with the interior handle. We figured that this style of tailgate would help us pull off a cleaner look. Don't want to be over the top busy in the back end. Some may say that ship has set sail. I'm anxious to massage the ends of the roll pan into the corner posts surrounding a stock style hinge. We agreed that the tailgate hinge we would leave stock. Maybe. Thanks again!

Re: 50 Chevy Trck Chassis
Ok Guys,
Fab1 and I made a little more progress today. Fab1 started modifying the left rear stake pocket where it stops at the bottom of the bed. We wanted to have it flow on down into the bed side and the roll pan to have a more flowing look instead of the way it was originally. He also canned the hole access for the rear cross sill bolts. This whole job took a lot of thinking and hard work on Fab1's part and I think it really looks good. Now we just have to get the other side done. We also have plans to modify the front stake pockets at the bottom so they will flow into the skirt between the bed and running boards. Also we will modify the front of the rolled part on the bed sides and the front panel top to match the curve of the rear of the cab. Let us know what you guys think of the look so far. Thanks, Renegade |
