Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
swizzlestick, No problem and thank you. I let the headlight buckets at the factory location. I use the 56 trim ring around the head light for the placement of the panel. I just level up the panel. Then lay a straight edge across the panel and the top of the fender and roll the patch panel out till it fits nice. Then cut slices in the fender to pull the front of the fender up to meet the patch panel. The fender rolls down so that is why you need the slices . You have to make a panel to finish off the underside of the patch panel to the fender above the headlight bucket. It is a lot of work but it is a nice subtle change.

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
It sure sounds like a ton of wofk to get them both perfectly matched and even... but yeah the 56 brow sure is a cool mod!!

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
Shannon
I hope all is well with your kids,..as for the dryer just build one !! The lines look sweet. It's so much fun when the big truck stops at your house !! Can't wait to see the truck, I finished in Kula lumpur last week ,went to the F1 race..man are they fast in person!! I've a short stop in Tokyo then home end of the week.I'll pull the motor &trans from the vett & get ready to head your way. I'll call you when I get back Ken It was one of those weeks. Two of my kids had small surguries and the gas drier died. But the brown truck came for a visit. The 56 eye brows and headlight rims came and a bunch of brake things came. The rocky hinges and latches are on there way. So I have been running the brake lines. I ordered a new blue piont(snap on) flare kit so it should be here early in the week. I bent up everything that I could, and only have to flare 5 ends. The back still needs the t put in and attach it to the long line. The front is all bent up and both ends need flared to go into the propotioning valve. They need trimmed back a little so they look nice. The frame is all tore apart so I can finish welding and grind the under side. I have to weld a 3/4 inch flat bar around the bat wing mount to strenghten it up a little. It would be alright but I like to over due things. It is back on the saw horses. Thursday I took off work so I will sling the epoxy on then. Then put it back together and start on the headlight brows and the doors till the motor comes. Shannon[/QUOTE] Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
98layinframe, It is not too bad just a lot of checking and measuring. But it is very different.
Chevette, I know what you mean. I have done that so many times on my panel it was not even funny. I think I did the tail lights 3 times till I finally liked it. Like you said , just stop looking at it. HAHA 48 GMC BURB, Yes the kids are good now, wife now has a sinus infection. The drier was fixed once and I was not fixing it again. It is great when UPS comes, they are coming tomorrow again. This time with hinge and latches. I bet the f1 race was cool as hell. I will give you a list of other things to bring with you when you come up. That will be a good weekend and am looking forward to it. Started of strenghtening the rear bat wing mounts. I added a 3/4 wide by 1/8 band around them and added a filler plate to the inside. One side is finished and the other needs the filler plate made and welded in. Then make some gussets for the pinion mount ears. Then flip it over and weld a few things and debur and grind it up. Then primer. Shannon

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
oldman3, Thank you.
I finished strengthening up my brackets. I gusseted all the rear end mounting points. Finished up a few other small welding points on the stuff I had just tacked. Today I was off from work so I ground up the frame and got rid of all the weld boogies. Wire wheeled everything. Then wiped it all down and put a coat of epoxy primer on everything. So tomorrow it can go back together. I also got the hidden hinges from Rocky hinge this week. So some more sheet metal stuff for a little while. Shannon

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
Chris.,Thank you.
oldman3, Thank you. chev3600, Thank you. Pictures to follow. 98layinframe, Let me know. I have 2 custom box tube frames to build. One for Ken and one for my 54. I tore apart my 90 vette IFS on Friday. Chevette, Thank you. Yes, has been years since I last put a set in. 99 to Life, Thank you. Yes you have to come down. The street rod show in york is another 2 months away. The panel will be there this year. I missed last year by 2 weeks. I put the frame together on Friday. It went together good. So here are some pictures of it. Here is a picture of the truck that is getting the frame. It looks like it is floating there with no suspension. I was going through withdrawal from the panel truck so I drove it on Saturday. I knew it was going to be nice during the day but the morning was in the low 30s. It was cold at 5:30AM with no heat and side windows. The wife told me that she is not going to ride in it till I get the windows in it. Damn I am going to miss her not coming with me. So I will have to get them in soon. Shannon

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
oldman3, Yes, it is not in to bad of shape. It has had panels in it at one time. But most do. It was great driving the panel this weekend.
69CST-V, Thank you. I thought it looked neat with them both setting there. Me too, I can not wait the transfer the body over onto the updated frame. Atommik, Thank you. It is really coming together well. I had a good night. I started on the 56 brows. It is going better than the last time. I put the factory bucket in and located the trim ring on the bulb and inserted the screw at the bottom in which lines up the trim ring. Then did a lot of slicing and dicing. I got everything fit and then marked the fender and cut out the fender. Then re fitted the brow and started tacking. I will have to make some relief cuts to get them to fit at the area not welded yet. Here are the pictures. Shannon

Re: 1951 Chevy / C4
oldman3, Thank you.
48 GMC BURB, I will send you a email on what all to bring up. Reworking the harness, now that sounds like a nightmare. I dislike wiring. The only wire I like is weld wire. HAHA. Yes, it is going to be a great truck. People for sure will be checking out the fenders and wondering all about them. Doors will be after the motor and trans is set, probably when I set the cab on over to the rewoked frame. I may get the panel out this wekend again , the daully needs front tires and that is enough of a reason for me. Plus 60 degree weather! 99 to Life, Thank you. Larry Lindley, Thank you. I had an hour in tonight. I only have the bottom corner to do and the inside panel to make. Ground out some filler below my panel and found a bunch of small dents. They naturally just filled them , so while I am hammering and dollying my stuff I will wack them out too. Then runn the shrinking disc over it and onto the other side. Shannon
