Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
For that stuck on wheel, I'm sure you've already soaked the lugs and center ring with oil, if not do so. Then jack the rear and whack the back of the tire with a bfh, be careful not to hit the rim at least not too hard, rotate the wheel as you're doing it. I've always had good luck with that, you can also hit it from the front, even rotating and kicking it sometimes works. Once you break it loose it can be worked off. Good Luck.

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
What BOXER957 said, and if that don't work....well....I Don't know what the heck you should do! The only thing I can think of is a torch or to cut them out if BPXER957's idea doesn't work. I've been fortunate with my rigs, I soaked them in pb blaster and let them sit for a day, them put the impact gun(air commpressed) and it pulled them off like nothing. Is yours electric or air?

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
It's electric and I've officially stripped them into round heads so I'm screwed. They have to be cut off.

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
One thing is that when you have rusty nut like that it's good to impact it a little at a time. Meaning instead of putting the impact gun on their and putting it to full blast, give it a slight blast each time and if they don't budge you know not to push it any more. If you can invest in an air commpressed gun that would be a good idea cause they have more power. Good luck and nice progress so far! T.J.

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
Can you place a shallow lug nut or 3/4 grade 8 on the rounded lug then turn the welder up and burn in the center for good penetration? The heat and the pb soak with an AIR impact should do it

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
Check autozone or any tool rental place. you can rent a nut splitter. I had to use one once, thought I was screwed. Someone told me about it and it worked like a champ, splits them right in half whatever it doesn't get you can finish with a hammer and chisel.

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
All I can say is cut the studs off and find another shaft with good studs outta another axle. Dang! It's being as bad as a ford ain't it!

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
If you can grind the bolts off then you will be in great shape. Might just wanna take the axle off and throw a stick of dynamite under it and that should work! I would find a good used one and get it over with cause those are an extremely easy swap.

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
Most good tire shops will have a "stripped lug nut" removal tool... it's kinda like an easy out for lug nuts..... put a breaker bar on it and you will probably break the stud... but the wheel will come off..

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
If the lugnut is stripped then the lug stud is probably shot, or near to being. Good thing is on these older vehicles they are pretty easy to replace.

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
so after a winter of not doing much for the truck (no garage) i am back in the groove of things again. i have a couple of new wheels coming (the stripped lug nuts story did not pan out well for the previous ones) and the new mirrors are on their way. the bed still needs to come off, but hopefully that will happen soon and i can get digging into the rear brakes and suspension so i can get this thing road worthy again soon.
need some advise on a decent place to get the front windshield replaced. the only quote i have gotten so far was $650 and that just seems a little high for a simple glass replacement. pics to come soon.

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
looking for two things at the moment that i am having a hard time finding.
1st anyone know what kind of wheels i have on this truck and where i might be able to find a replacement? the rear one (with the stripped nut) is screwed and i need just that one..... 2nd...anyone know what kind of rear bumper i have it's the diamond plate looking square one....i will try to get a better picture of it. but i want to add a class 3 hitch and need to know if anyone has added the curt class III hitch with this bumper and where the receiver ends up.... other than that, i have a couple parts on order and hope to get them soon got new tires last week so they will be going on where i popped the old one

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
Hey man, I really dig your truck. Those spot lights are awesome!
I'll get the # of the glass company we use at my work, they're pretty cheap and do good work. I don't have a clue what kind of wheels those are. If you're interested, I have a 4 set of 15x8 6 lug truck rally wheels that you can have! Look forward to more of your build.

Re: 63 Fleetside Chevy C10 build
Got the roof sanded and painted yesterday, also got most of the rear frame sanded and painted.
Need to pull the windshield and paint the dash before I have the glass guy come out and do the new one. Then I need to work on the seats and the mounting holes for them as well as the floor pan and interior stuff. Sanding the grill surround is also on the list and getting that back installed. Then the wheels and tires and it might be ready to go for an inspection.
