Heres some GMC Canadian specs sheets from 1961. Shows the 235 for both truck and panel and a v6 option for the panel, but not the truck.

Nice document. It appears the suburban was imported, while the pickups and panels were not imported. 1000 is the American series designation, C910 thru C930 is the Canadian series designation. American GMC suburbans used the V6 exclusively from 1960 thru 1963.

Strange, the '66 engineering feature book shows the locking stainless west coast type mirrors as being a new option for '66 pickups (post 83, page 4). This mirror was indeed new option for '66, however I've only seen it on Chevy Vans. Has anyone seen an original factory locking stainless west coast type mirror on a '66? Any SPID decal with this option listed?

Neat stuff 60-66, thanks for posting! Here is a Custom Camper with camper. IMO opinion, an 8' or 9' is just about right for these 3/4 tons, the longer 11 footers get a little too heavy on the rear and mess up the center of gravity ( check out the silver rings Sodly).

Original 1959 artwork commissioned by GM. Up on ebay if anyones interested. Just wanted to document it.

This is an original hand done painting on illustration board from Detroit.
It is circa 1959/60 and was a commission by General Motors to the prestigious

advertising art studio of Fairchild, Groeneveld and Fitzgerald.

It was done by Jim Fetter (signed on the reverse) and is in

near mint condition, with day one color and crispness. The

original studio matt has some light corner bumps. It is as

shown and unframed. The image area inside the matt measures

11 by 16 inches ant the overall dimensions are 17 by 22

inches. This type of artwork was done in mixed media including

gouache, and ink. It would have been available for use in

sales and promotional materials. I have not yet found the

image published. The brochure for 60 shows a yellow version

from a different angle.

Anyone ever seen this one before? There is no date or other markings I have found yet, I just acquired (arrived today) this 48" x 20" x 2" thick GMC Truck Headquarters Key Sign. Considering that GMC used this particular style lettering font from 1956-1969 & that the octagonal key shape was replaced by the square style key in 1969, if I'm not mistaken? I think it's safe to say this dealer signage might have been used at the time our '60-'66 trucks were being sold. Either way, think this one is quickly becoming my favorite sign in my collection.

If anyone has any info or pics of this type of sign in advertising please post!

Possibly. I did an internet search and couldn't find out anything. Tried to find some old dealer pics that might have showed it. I'm no expert on signage by any means either though....but its in the right thread to find info on it.

According to chevrobilia who buys and sells literature, there was no central office dealing with signs and banners. Every department could create something and distribute it through the dealership network. I have a Dealership Sign brochure that has dimensions but no regulated wording was required.
