I guess we got wet heat here..100 in my shop..95 outside today..105 heat index..I can walk outside and in 10 min I'm soaking wet..

Azhank..I finally got ahold of Don at flatout..I was having issues getting thru also..he said they had all the phone lines and internet pulled out of his building redoing his showroom last week. He's back up and running if you want to give him a holler about your rack..

I plan on following his details, as soon as I can get my sorry self going. I'm right in the middle of down sizing. Need to build a detached garage before the snow flies, then I'll get started in a good way.

Yup thanks I e-mailed him and he got right back and told me that too. I would try to clock mine but I live in the boonies I don't know where I would find the lines and I really don't want to buy another tool that I will only use one time.

Azhank..I've got a couple more questions for ya if ya don't mind..could you get me a measurement of inside the frame rail to frame rail around where the header collectors are (i noticed your frame rails are outside the crossmember instead of inside,, any tire turning clearance issues?).and the outside header collector to collector,..I want to make sure if I order a set of those headers they have a chance of fitting..mines going in a 53..btw..got my crossmember this morn..man it looks good..

Sorry mongo, I'm not at home. I'm an over the road truck driver and won't be back until the 18th. I'll get them for you then. My frame is home made out of 2×4 rectangle tubing.

Ok..no problem..I had noticed you made your frame..I'm faced with the same making frame thing only I'm going to use dom round tube for mine..I was thinking of running my tubes outside the crossmember similar to yours but was worried about clearances(tires, a arms and such).outside crossmember will give me more room for LS headers to clear

I was home today and got a little bit done. I ordered a different set of ShockWaves for the rear much better fit so getting rid of all the cantilever setup I made. I really didn't like that It took up to much room inside the bed. I've got an extra set of those front ShockWaves to get rid of now.
Messed around with the front ones too I'll have to notch the frame as the bags hit it. I saw in one of the Truck magazine,s they did that. And I put the old Vette wheels back on and put the braces back in where the ShockWaves go. It sits outside and the sun is brutal here in the summer.
Sorry, Mongo I noticed you wanted some measurements, I'll get them in the morning.

A couple more I have to clean the "Holes" up and plate it behind where the bags go. This was just a quickie to make it all fit.

Inside the frame is 29 5/8ths, between the collectors it is 26". I'm not sure what you mean by the crossmember being on the inside? I am using the Flat Out front end kit and the frame I built out of 2X4 tubing. nothing is set in stone yet it is all tacked until I decide where everything goes then I'll blow it all apart and weld it solid.
I noticed on a build by Delmo he didn't put any crossmembers in the middle of the frame they were using Porter Built Dropmembers front and rear don't know if it makes a difference.

Thanks Hank ..I've got the flatout kit also and if I were using a stock frame Don shows the stock frame rails running on the inside of the flatout crossmember uprights..I noticed you have yours on the outside of the uprights(your 29 5/8" measurement)...if it works ok that would give me another 4" between my rails for header clearance if I can run them outside the uprights..I was concerned about tires hitting the frame rails when fully turned..and that 26" measurement is that inside the collectors or outside the collectors? Thanks..

That is outside the collectors. Our frames are different. The AD trucks mount on the inside like Don said. No the tires don't hit. I have to deliver in Torrance tomorrow then going home for a week. I'm going to stop by Don's shop and pick up a rack that is turned forward on the way home.
I don't think I'm going to get anything done my wife is having the Carpel Tunnel fixed in her left hand and the right one fixed later in the year. She might kill me if I'm out in the garage "playing" and she needs help. LOL

Perfect..thanks hank..I'm building my own frame for my ad so its good to know I can run my tube outside the crossmember and not have issues with tires and such..I assume our crossmembers are the same..my crossmember is 29 5/8" outside,, with 2" tube on each side that will give me the same measurement you gave me..that gives about a little over 1 3/4" between frame rail and collector on each side..that's what I was looking for..many thanks..I had both my carpels worked on several years ago..slowed me down for a little while but it was worth it..

Ok looking back at your other post I forgot you said you were using DOM. One other thing I have to cut the bung for the oxygen sensors out and reposition them. With the sensors in they are real close to the frame rail.

Yep I using dom round tube and am thinking about running it outside like yours and,,, maybe,,,reccessing it into the crossmember like I drawed here..the black dots in the uprights represent the dom tube..with headers like you used I should still have clearance..on my 81 ls swap i had to do a bunch of header mod and im tring to avoid that again....I emailed don about my plan I'm just waiting to hear back from him..thanks

Stopped at FlatOut this morning and picked up rebuilt rack with the lines facing forward.

Ok got a little update. I remade the motor and trans mounts. I was not happy with the ones I made. Got the motor and trans in. Put the core support and radiator on to check for clearance. Then put the cab on and everything looks good all around. It is looking a little tight between the radiator and the water pump. So I thought I can re- solder the side brackets to move it forward and get some room.
After I was finished for the day I sat down and was looking at it thinking (daydreaming LOL) and it dawned on me it is just tacked in and there is all kinds of room between the motor and firewall. So guess I'm going back out after dinner and moving it back about an inch and I'll still have a ton of room.
