Re: Meet Homer (the motor home)
Actually I am mostly a Chevelle guy sticking my toe back into the truck water. I have had 8 Chevelle's over the years. That's my go-to car. Problem I have is "I like a bunch of stuff".
Can only afford 1 nice one and then a bunch of junk trying to be better.

Re: Meet Homer (the motor home)
Cool Chevy II and I love the chevelle too. I totally get the"I like a bunch of stuff" syndrome, I have that too. Mustangs, trucks, broncos and trans Am's...I have at least one of each right now. None of them are great, but in my head they will be...someday.

Re: Meet Homer (the motor home)
Yep. I know what you mean.
Little bit of progress today. got the cab mounts in and bolted in and aligned up. Then went to put the motor and transmission in but first had to get and install new motor mounts. Didn't have them and couldn't find them. What the heck. Anybody got and part numbers for a 68 327 that bolts to the block and has a hole that you bolt to the perch from underneath. Standard stuff I thought. A couple progress pics.

Re: Meet Homer (the motor home)
Thanks for the kind words. A lot of times it kinda boils down to zip codes. Right now here in the desert we gotta "make hay while the sun is shining". About 3 months from now it will feel like we are on the surface of the sun, while all you guys out there where it's now cold will be "whipping and a spurring".

Re: Meet Homer (the motor home)
Prothane Motion Control Part Number: D/I7-509 is what I went with on my K10 with a 327. I got them from 4 Wheel Parts. They are the same as the mounts I took off except for the mounting bolt that goes through perch is smaller and they are polyurethane. They are a little thicker they to originals also. Not sure if the perchs are the same from 4 wheel to 2 wheel drive.

Re: Meet Homer (the motor home)
Hey Wayne do you have a couple of front fenders laying around? I need the inter lip that the wheel wells bolt to? Mine were cut out. I have wheel wells, but nothing to bolt them too, fender wise..Just wondering.

Re: Meet Homer (the motor home)
Little bit of progress update.
This past weekend I installed the new motor mounts and bolted the motor and transmission back into place. Replaced the broken exhaust manifold. Installed an H.E.I. distributor and new plugs. Then, (drum roll) Actually fired up the motor. She started right up after about a half a turn. Little bit of smoke out of one bank, but not too bad. Never had heard it run before. Still don't want to put any more money in this bullet than I have to cause I might need to replace it. Got a great running 350 sitting on the sidelines yelling "put me in coach". The other hand is if it'll run ok I would rather leave it alone and "don't fix it if it ain't broke". Anyhow, it lives.

I guess it's just the old scrounger in me that loves this part of a build. Looked at it and thought "what is going to puke if it starts"? so if cut a pair of tranny lines and made a loop. looped the water pump. hooked up the oil pressure guage. poured gas in and BAMM, sukka started right up first try.

Re: Meet Homer (the motor home)
Well baby steps are better than no steps. Yesterday I went to O'Reilly's auto parts and ordered a heater core. Didn't have one in stock so I picked it up tonight after work. Now I know it's not much but I was able to clean it all up, lube the lever, install the new monkey poop seal, and bolted that sucker on. Like I said, not much, but it's one step closer to putting the front clip back on. I need to pull off the drivers side front fender and transfer the bolt holes for the C30 emblem to the new fender and hang it back in place. Got the Spring Nationals Goodguys event in town this coming weekend so no progress planned (unless I skip out on Sunday).
Anybody else going?

Re: Meet Homer (the motor home)
Right on. You planning to be in the truck corral? I am planning to be near the car corral/swap meet area on the east/south end where it drops down the hill to the parking lot. I will be in my black 67 Chevelle. Stop by and say hi if you are in the neighborhood. I will look for your truck.

Re: Meet Homer (the motor home)
No pics but I did get a little bit accomplished tonight after work. I pulled the dented drivers front fender (inner and outer) off the removed front clip and drilled the emblem holes on the new (to me) fender I scored from Tom K. Washed out years of leaves and spider nests before it got dark.
Baby steps.

Re: Meet Homer (the motor home)
Well Friday and Saturday was fun showing the Chevelle at Goodguys but the whole time I was there having fun, visiting, buying stuff, I was wishing I was home working on Homer. But today I dug right in and made up for lost time.
I will show what it looked like this morning and what it looks like tonight. Lighting a fire

Re: Meet Homer (the motor home)
Thanks Flashed. Just keep putting in one bolt after the other. Just think, once it's built and running down the road all sorted out if I keep it I get to pull it back apart and paint it. then the slow put together starts. Oh well, It's what we do.
