Best of Show Car and Best of Show Truck. The last show Slick was in before her demise. I miss her. Shirts will be made with this picture on them for the Fall show this year, think I'll order about 5 of em.

Re: Buried to Bagged 1972 2wd
This weekends progress was not too bad. After being concerned that I had not received all of my items from Porterbuilt I looked in every box, including the one that had been moved while the shop was being cleaned....and there it was. Duhhhh. At least I had all the parts needed to finish building the frame and to move on to the brakes. Whew!!

Re: Buried to Bagged 1972 2wd
I took a few of the frame because it just looked awesome. The rotors are 14 inch with C5 Corvette calipers.

Re: Buried to Bagged 1972 2wd
It looks like you were able to keep all of the Blazer body mounts. Is that correct?

Re: Buried to Bagged 1972 2wd
Yep, as far as I can tell it looks that way. The PB rear end kicked the frame rails out a little in the rear but I won't know how much until I do a fitment with the body. When the bar between the c-notches was installed that pulled them in some.

Re: Buried to Bagged 1972 2wd
They are chevy, 5 and 6 lug rotors. This is how they came from Pro Performance.

Re: Buried to Bagged 1972 2wd
A little update is due! I had a nice Memorial Day, thanks to all our veterans!! Hope you all did as well! I was able to get the front c-notches installed with some changes to the measurements I was provided from PB. I guess the 6.0 DM is situated a little further forward than past versions. After getting the notches in I was able to mount the rack and pinion, which fit well, and decided to mount the old rims and set it on the ground for the first time.

Re: Buried to Bagged 1972 2wd
Here are the pics!!!
The PO had torched holes in the frame that allowed it to crack, I cut the stiffener out and patched it and added a hump over that for strength. The measurements called for 4 1\8 but that wouldn't work with the new 6.0 version DM. Had to move it to 5 1/4 to centerline the notch. As you can see in this pic, the bright white mark is way too far back so I double measured and put the rack and pinion in diagonally to check clearance. I had to move it up quite a bit! Welded the notch in on the backside....don't laugh, I had forgotten to turn on the gas.....

Re: Buried to Bagged 1972 2wd
I used my new plasma cutter to cut the frame, love that tool!!! Very little grinding to get the notch in.
Since I was having soooo much fun with the welder, I decided to triple weld the notches in on the outside. Just so I could spend hours having fun grinding it down to make it look nice. After drilling out the spindle tie rod holes I added the rack and pinion to the DM. Those 15 inch rims didn't leave much room for the 14 inch rotors!!! Had to pull the calipers off so they would fit..... TOUCHDOWN!!!! I added the rearend to the frame and was able to lay it out on the shop floor!!!!!

Re: Buried to Bagged 1972 2wd
This is looking awesome! I am digging the look of the new DM version 6..
I realize it's mockup phase and all, but just in case you missed it, I think on the Extreme Dropmembers the trailing arms need to be in the lowest mounting position on the cross member.. Keep up the good work..

Re: Buried to Bagged 1972 2wd
Thank you! It sure is nice being able to bolt on a complete custom suspension, fabricating all this would have put me back at least 6 months!!
Layed out for sure!! I am pretty excited about getting to this point! My first frame layin C-10, can't wait to get behind the wheel.......in about a year and a half. Definitely swing by, we'll have the refreshing adult beverages waiting.

Re: Buried to Bagged 1972 2wd
A small update for the week, but progress is progress!!! The frame is no longer swiss cheese, got a lot of the holes welded up. Also started to delete the holes in the firewall, it felt good to do something on the body. I do have full covers for the firewall so this is just practice. Slosh Tubz sales smooth firewall panels if you didn't know!! I'm sure Mike Losh would be happy to hook ya up!! (Shameless plug)
