Re: '53 duramax
Yeah I used everything from HD, the bucket and all. All the holes line up and everything. They are the 7" lights.

Re: '53 duramax
Awesome project with very tasteful selection of wheels and colors! Really jealous and wishing I had done the same with my 59 in reference to the engine. I might have to build me a diesel power plant to have as a backup for when the big block needs to be freshened up.

Re: '53 duramax
It's been forever since I've updated this thread but we've gotten a lot done...
Exhaust is done. I extended the ecm/tcm harness 8' to get it into the cab. Added 832' of wire and had 208 solder connections...it sucked. Intercooler piping is all done. Lights! Guages, with edge CTS monitor. Another exhaust pic, it's tight! Shifter for the Allison. Wiring fun lol. 102 wires cut, soldered 8' in and soldered the plugs back on and didn't have a single issue. Right now the truck is running, wish I could post a video. Waiting on brakes and axles to show up as well as some other small parts to really wrap it up before it goes to the interior shop in 2 weeks. Last edited by Firstgenfan; 03-08-2016 at 11:40 PM. |

Re: '53 duramax
You've done a fantastic job. Congrats. I've got a 54 with an LBZ/ allison in it, it's nowhere near as nice as yours but its tons of fun to drive. All the work will be worth it, no doubt.

Re: '53 duramax
Truck is coming together very nice. Any details on the gauges? I am also going to use a EDGE cts2 to monitor the D-max motor and might only use a fuel and volt gauge in dash and flush the screen in the original location.

Re: '53 duramax
The guages are autometer American muscle series. They're not a direct bolt infor this application, I had to weld in rings to reduce the diameter of the original openings. I have to get a signal converter so that the tach works but other than that I love them!

Re: '53 duramax
Firstgenfan, yes hopefully I can make it down the shrewsbury markets more this year. Last year I only made it to one of them. It was crazy last year with selling our house and moving. I know what you mean, I like to just drive mine too.
