Re: Project "Haulin' "

IT IS DONE!!!!... Well almost... I still need to cut and polish , wire the side markers, I have a electrical thing going on where some of the lights aren't working now ( they worked fine before we started on this), Need to get the A/C working and I think I need a ignition switch...

I also ordered a new set of tires for it this morning... The tires that are on it are old and just mot safe... So it is getting a set of Cooper Cobras :295/50 15's out back and 235/60 15 up front...

So here is the question for the board... I am going to run the Factory Rally's on this truck so do I run the Raised White Letters out or in...

Re: Project "Haulin' "

Looks great! Since I started driving in the 70's, I like white letters out. Will probably be in the minority though...truck will look good either way.

Turned out great, Dan! Should bring a smile to your face every time you hit the road. Now you can relax a little while planning your next mods to Raymond and waiting for Carlson. It would be nice if you could make it to the All Truck Nationals this weekend.

ain't that the truth. Driving an awesome work truck is what fired me up to stop working on my Chevelle and Nova for a while and build another old truck.
I paid almost $40,000 for a 06 chevy crew cab duramax in 2006. Started daily driving it and working out of it and still do today. got 160,000 miles on it and still love it. But, and it's a Big Butt, It's not cool. I still got at least 10 more years to work and dangit I want to drive a cool truck to work for those last years. I'll park my diesel and use it for towing, etc.
Isn't it funny nobody thinks twice about spending a ton on a new truck and squirm about spending less than $20,000 on a cool old truck you can drive and really enjoy.

Bingo. I have to commute over 80 miles a day 4 days a week. Finally figured out that I would much rather enjoy those miles driving a cool truck instead of just putting in the miles.

Thanks Guys... I am not wanting to push this old 350... I really don't want to have to replace it for a couple years.. I just found out I am getting ready to spend about 8K on my little 327 @ Patterson racing... My wife is PISSED to say the least...

8k woah that's expensive I hope you are getting some serious internals for that kind of money and it's not all just going to labor.

Well when you have the best do your engine there is alot of labor... but it is getting all new Pistons, rods Bored, complete head rebuild (they wanted me to go with Aluminum but I want original), this also includes the New High FLow water pump, starter and a bunch of other stuff...

The thing is... Alan Patterson truly is the best in the USA for building SBC engines and for me I want bullet proof... This also includes pulling it and adjusting it on the Dyno...
