I've been over on 73-87 part of our forum looking for help. They had some good info. for me and in the end I was able to get my problem solved.

The problem was I could not figure out how to knock the outer wheel bearing races out of the rotors. After much pondering, reading and watching you tube and listening to the guys on the other part of the forum I made a tool and was able to over come.

The rotors are on the spindles and I've ordered new calipers and a water pump.
Still cleaning parts and bolts and making lists of what needs to be done next that I can afford to do at this time.

I'll get some pictures soon but really you can't tell much yet so I may wait until I get the front wheels back on or the engine further along.

More progress on Friday. The calipers are installed and some wheels and tires too.
Got the water pump, fuel pump and motor mounts installed on the engine. Also installed the harmonic balancer and pulley. Installed the lifters and pushrods and started setting the valve lash. Moving along like a herd of turtles.

Yes I see some progress.

Are you planning to use those '73-'87 C10 engine mount brackets? If so you do realize that you will need to trim the top flange of the frame and add a spacer on top of the frame? The '73-'87 C20 & 30 brackets fit with a 1/4" or no spacer on top of the frame.

I am aware of the spacer needed to use the mount brackets I have. I was not aware the frame needed to be trimmed on the top. I have been test fitting to measure for the spacer needed. Sounds like I need to bolt things in place and see what is needed.

Bummed I couldn't make last Monday work, but on the bright side, I'm in the middle of a three day weekend...

Will know tomorrow when my wife's procedure is scheduled and then will make real plans to come hang out...

I just ordered a used set of the 73-87 C20 V8 motor mount brackets off of the ebay.

This really is not all that hard if you don't mind spending money.

The learning curve is very steep for me so it takes a lot of time to get any portion of this swap completed.

I somehow missed that you are using the '62 frame. I don't think you would need to trim the frame but with your frame you will need more than 1/4" spacer. The '60-'62 frames are not as tall as the '63+ frames

I got the C20 motor mount brackets and cut some spacers for the top of the frame.
Last Thursday the 28th of Dec. I came down with some kind of crud that knocked me off of working in the shop until today.

Before I got sick last week my daily driver Chevy Z 71 decided to act up. The drivers side door would not latch and then it jammed shut. Today I was able to get in there and get it working again.

I do have a rebuilt starter and alternator for the 62 and also a shiny new distributor to stick in it. I think I'm getting close to putting the engine in and starting it up.

Then all I lack will be finishing everything else.

I did not turn on the heat in the shop today so I did not stay out there very long after I got my door latch back together.

I'll get some pictures posted tomorrow hopefully. We will see.

Got the motor mounts mocked up. You can also see where I chopped out the rear or bell housing cross member. Some more progress on the engine and the new dist. rebuilt starter and alt.

I've been doing some things on my truck but have also been working on other things too.
The power steering adpt. is mocked up.

I have 71 C10 rear end taken apart for new bearings and relocating the spring perches.
New rear coil springs are on back order.
The old rear end is out.

I've been working on the old jeep and doing some things on the vette. Also been working on the daily driver Z71 as needed. Buying tires and repair parts for these other vehicles takes money form the 62 project as well as eats into the 62's attention in the shop.

It is still a work in progress with a long ways to go. Everything on this old truck is so rusted together I've had to cut a lot of it off and order replacement parts that I did not plan on. Oh the joy of rusted iron.

I traded some of the 82 donor parts for the rear end for the 62. I cut the tailgate and back of the bed off the 82 and took them and the rear bumper to my grandaughter in Houston for her baby boy that is on the way. Her husband wants to make a changeing table out of it. Could be pretty cool.

Good to see you are hanging out in the shop, getting stuff done. I know all about having to divide time and money to maintain other projects and keep the fleet going. Hopefully it is worth it and your 62 will get its share... as Don says, Progress is progress.

For some reason this picture was not included in my latetest update. The trailing arms, coil springs, shocks, rear axle and rear bumper all had to be cut off. Since I don't have a torch I use an angle grinder to cut through the end of the bolts to split the nuts. The shocks are the only thing I got off with out having to cut. The big u bolts and the coil spring through bolts on the trailing arm were rusted in place and required some big time hammer persuasion to let go from together to apart.

Just under a year since last update.

Warning NO PICTURES!!

There has not been a lot of truck progress but I have made progress in the shop. Got rid of the 1982 parts truck remains and moved things around so I have a lot more room to work now.
Also got some needed work done on the Jeep, the vette and my daily driver Z71 over the past year.
Now I'm ready to get something done on the 62.
Feels good to get better organized in the shop.

Ordered rebuild kit for dif. today. Pickep up the axle seals and bearings. Looking at posi. units but undecided on that.
Also think I'll go with the crush sleeve eleminator on the rebuild.

Have been battling getting the meds. worked to where I feel like doing fun stuff in the shop more. Making progress on that front too.

Past couple of monthes have seen very little shop work done on the 62. I do think I've got a handle on the meds. now to where hopefully I'll be in some kind of shape to get more done.

I'm in the progress of getting the core support repaired. Also now have all the parts needed to put the rear end back together.
About ready to to finish the power steering frame adaptor. Then I'll see about the rear trans crossmember for the five speed that is waiting to be installed along with the engine.

I've got plans on some pictures too. Not much to show at this time that would be an update from what has been posted.

I'm still on a roller coaster getting the meds. lined out but seem to be on a positive road for now.

I've ordered a core support repair lower channel from Captain Bob.

The cart I built for the 62 bed has been updated so the bed does not slide off the cart when being pushed around in the shop.

And I just bought another 1962 C10. It is a project that some one had started years ago and was being parted out. I bought remains.

It has the right rocker and cab corner replaced.
There is a Buick V8 and automatic installed.
I think this truck is a V8 truck or at least an automatic transmission truck because of the trans. crossmember.

I wanted this truck mainly for the front bumper and grille.
Also the big back window may be some thing I could use.
This truck has the step fender spare tire cutout on the left step fender.

Anyway I've been busy getting ready to get ready to do some real work on my project.

I was able to get the left front and left rear lug nuts broke loose to replace the rims and tires with some better ones that will hold airs.
That little bit about did me in. I put up my tools and called it a day. This is going to be a slower, longer process than I thought.

I never realized how out of shape I am. Rheumatiod arthritis has really slowed me down.

Hopefully I'll be getting some pictures of the slow progress soon.
