Re: My 1968 C30 Wrecker rebuild
With the second trip out with it, I had a few issues that I'm trying to work out. I got my front sway bar installed with new bushing. Another item off my list of things to do.

Re: My 1968 C30 Wrecker rebuild
I love 292s.
What is the plumbing coming out of the T-stat neck and going to the heater core? Unusual to see a Monojet and headers on the same engine. Usually it's one or the other.

Re: My 1968 C30 Wrecker rebuild
I took it on it's third trip and broke down as I was pulling into my driveway. A huge disappointment. My mechanic came down and did some trouble shooting. A new coil had went bad. At least it was a cheap fix. I picked up my 300' of 1/2" cable yesterday and got it put on. Speedometer broke and I ordered a new one. I took it to my mechanic to fix a few bugs and correct a couple of issues. Almost finished.

68 OS
That is a shut off valve going to the heater core. So in the summer time I can shut it off and and bypass the heater core so it won't get warm. The carburetor is original to the truck and I added headers to have true dual exhaust. Last edited by irl104; 05-02-2018 at 07:21 PM. Reason: wording |

Re: My 1968 C30 Wrecker rebuild
Well, it's finally done. Finished it at the end of July. Just over four years. Many little setbacks over and over. Replacing new parts. After replacing rebuilt carburators that would work and stay working. It's on the fourth one now. Had to replace the new battery. It went bad. I had to replace the new distributor with points and go with a NOS GM distributor with electronic ignition. It still has the old school look. Finally got the correct set of west coast mirrors I liked, (the fourth set) painted and installed. A front end alignment was done as well. Thanks to Tackett's Garage and Naylor's Alignment for the final touches.

Re: My 1968 C30 Wrecker rebuild
Wow, that is spectacular. Not just that you have done a great restoration, but that you shared it with the group. More so that you have a personal history with that truck.
Congratulations on your accomplishment.
