You know every nut & bolt on this truck and know the work that has been done is up to your standards. Just think how much it would have cost you to have a shop do the work you have done. I bet you would have closer to $25k into what you have sitting in your garage. Keep up the good work. It will be well worth the time & money you have into it.

I work in a shop for a living and do some street rod stuff on the side with a good buddy of mine and you would be LUCKY to get what you have so far for anything less than 15K. You are well ahead of the ball and that is going to be one of the nicest trucks on this board when youre finished. Makes me want to crush mine knowing it'll never be as nice as Dennis' truck!

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
For some reason I am not getting updates on this to my email... Sorry about the delay, I "think" I fixed the problem, we will see...
Tips on installing, how about Videos from Ben. This is the install Videos for the 73-87 kits in a pickup. Step 1: Step 2: Step 3: Step 4: Step 5: Step 6: Step 7: Most of this will apply short of the non roller section, but seriously you shouldn't have trouble. Just be patient and read the instructions completely first then start on it. Install the glass BEFORE painting the doors! That roller added plus the guide on the glass is shorter and the top roller is adjustable. You can get the updated pieces, but you basically would be getting a new kit. You can't get the brackets off the glass, so you need new glass. Most of the changes to this kit were due to the changes required on the 67-72 kit, they use the same bracket on the glass. BTW, the truck looks AWESOME! Quote:

This has been hilarious getting caught up from the last couple days. But how the hell do I get blamed!?! Bob, of course...me?!?!? Dang, that's rough.
Dennis, that color is so perfectly close, but so perfectly far from the stock color. 100% approved!!! Very nice man! See you & Amy in 2 weeks. (Don't worry guys...I will have a talk with her. )

Beautiful, Dennis!!! When it's done, you will own a one of a kind truck that has a family history. It'll be something to be VERY proud of.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
That paint is beautiful. I can only imagine standing there looking at it. Hopefully I will be able to get a great paint job like that on mine, depending on the money. I sold the GTO because I have a baby about to be here in less than a month and I barely drove that car. But she has already said she doesnt care what I do to the truck. But i believe she has no idea what it cost to work on cars. So im keeping my fingers crossed.
Seeing this frame off resto make me want to start the same way you did. Last edited by CoreyLeo223; 06-26-2010 at 08:41 AM. |

Does that paint have a large gold flake in it?
