Re: 198Plus build

Thought I would post a few pics of today's progress on my 57 Chevy........

Time for some paint.

Sealer done.

In these pics we shot the car with 2 coats of single stage paint just to make sure it was arrow straight and to look for any imperfections we may have missed. Tomorrow we'll wet block the car again, and then lay the paint to it.

Here's one of the chassis......

Man it better be straight. Love that combination. Red is my favorite interior color. My truck will be Red/ black two tone, with red interior.

Took the words right out of my mouth Alan. Leave it alone. I was told that once you break the fresh seal from new paint it won't be as durable. Is that true?

Re: 198Plus build

I just read your build all the way through, it really is a soap opra. I to live in Loganville GA, and have been to you shop about when you did the first test paint on the front fender. I was driving my old 66 step side and buying materials for my 64 project, you came up to the paint store and told me to come take a look at your labor of love. You told me about this web site but I only recently signed up, great information here. I am coming back into town next weekend and I will stop by and see ya. Here is my old 66 sold it to consetrate on my 64.

At that time I could not understand why $2700 was such a big deal, I thought she was saying No just to be difficult.... LOL (that was 1978 by the way) I have always had a heart-on for those '57s.

Then I grew up and discovered Pontiacs!!
My wifes '72 LeMans Sport is being professionally restored this year back home, and my '66 Tempest Custom is sitting pretty in a storage unit. Both are convertibles too.

Extra work and a few dollars extra materials but a GREAT idea. You can tell pretty well from the primer how the job will come out but never see as much as when the clear goes on (or single stage). As seen by the results below this is a step that helps you take it from a "nice" paint job to a paint job! Show quality black paint there!!!
