Yeah that's small, we had a "Ranch" near Darby Mt. it was 50 Acres we had 100 ewes and two rams. We also a had about 10 Llamas too. It was right on the Bitter Root River. In my 16th summer my step dad sent me to his best friend's ranch near Wibaux Mt. he had 15,000 acres and leased 25,000 acres from the BLM. It was a cattle ranch with around 1000 cows mostly black angus but a few Charolais cows. The biggest thing a remember was artificially inseminating them! That was a lot of work. We also had to move them from pasture to pasture on horses! That summer whore my butt out!!!

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

Random shot of one of my hobbies when I was much younger... and stronger... in a galaxy far far away. LOL.

That's me with the backwards hat. You can see the backside of my Dad's 1970 CST/10 sitting there.

All aluminum Buick 215 with an Offy intake and Predator carb, mated up to a 36" harvester bar runnin' 3/4" harvester chain. Saw weighed in at a tick over 500 pounds. This was a 25" hunk of cedar we were practicing on. But in competition we cut through 30" of cottonwood in around 2 seconds.

The spring at Fairfax Stone. The source of the (N. Branch) Potomac River at the SW tip of Maryland. It marks the southern boundary with Virginia all the way to the Chesapeake Bay. Now West Virginia, the stone is the extreme southern point that the due north line surveyed by Mason & Dixon extends from. The last two pictures show Marker 3 up the line on top of Backbone Mt near Hoye Crest, Maryland's highest point

Caught this fellow enjoying the sun warmed bricks behind my woodpile last Tuesday right before the front came through and temps dropped 15-20 degrees. Always happy to see a king snake in the yard.

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

When I lived in El Paso, Arkansas I had one of those fellows about 4 ft long come from under the lawn chair I was sitting in right between my feet. I was also generally happy to see them around the place, but not so much that time!

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

king snakes, bull snakes, gopher snakes, and black snakes are the most common of the larger non poisonous snakes back home..

they usually make good neighbors by keeping varmints down and only the occasional poop your pants surprise encounter

this guy tried crawling in the longhorn while I was resting with the door propped open with my foot..

my last or almost last load of hedge brush and I was tuckered out and needed a little time out..

so this guy came out of the weeds and tried to join me, scared the crap out of me

so even after I pulled my foot in and shut the door he still wanted to hang out with me..

luckily I had the broom in the cab so I unscrewed the handle and poked at him until he left me alone..

Yup. That's what the last fella in my driveway looked like.

Unfortunately. Just like my ex wives and girlfriends. He didn't stick around.

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

Sorry no photo, but my grandmother used to be quite proud of an estimated 6 foot bull snake that lived on their central Texas "hill country" ranch. She often took photos of it when she encountered it in the barn or out in the garden. Bull snakes I've been told eat a lot of vermin and other small animals.

The ones around here look about like that.

One spring quite a few years ago we were driving back from our barn and saw a pair of them on the bank next to the county road. They were right in the middle of doing their thing. And that's all I'm going to say about that

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

I ordered some stuff shipped directly to the farm and mom sent this text to me today..

"Your other package just arrived. There is a long black snake on the gravel by the back door. The UPS guy almost had a heart attack. I told him to watch out for the snake and thought I was pointing for him to put the package down. When he saw the snake he jumped back and shivered"
