Thanks. They are Wheel Vintiques, rears are 15 x 10 with MT 30x12 and fronts if I remember are 15 x 8 or 7 with Firestone bias ply skinnies, just for some fun at high freeway speeds!

....more stripping.... Im thinking that when I get to the bed Im gonna get some paint stripper....

The cab is completely stripped except under it and Ill get that when we lift it off the frame.

The right front fender is ordered. Once I get my "after Christmas bonus Ill order the cab corners and inner rocker patches and the lower inner left side door patch along with the bed front. Still deciding on doing the wood bed floor or not.

Post Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I realized it's unlikely I'll get my 292 overhaul finished before the paint Jail needs a drive line to install so I hoisted the old 250 CID i6 onto an engine stand and began stripping it down and cleaning the engine and all those ding dang brackets.....

Whew , I'm tired and still have lots to do plus I need to find a pair of those side plates that fit 194/230/250 engines ~ this engine has chrome covers and i want stock .

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

1. get the bbc up and running.
2. get the truck to move under its own power
3. more important...got it too stop
4. putted through the back roads with the lil' guy riding shotgun.

all went great on its maiden voyage after 2 yrs & 2 months of being torn down. you can see the big kid just had to follow me around in his 67 swb.
I'm building this truck for the lil' guy he was super thrilled when i took him out and showed him it starts and drives on christmas afternoon.

pretending to be fiddling with something I asked him too turn the key (he had no idea it was gonna start) and when it crackled to life you all should've seen the biggest suprized smile i got from him

the granddaughter was waiting her turn for a ride.

unfortunately very much sanding and body work to do yet....ugh

Started pulling all the salvageable parts off of the ol' 283. Opened her up, found out she's a very dirty girl.

I had a company blast the frame with high pressure water and small particles of glass. This process is an alternative to other medium blasting such as sand or soda blasting...clean as a whistle!

Post Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

That 283 is *very* clean ! .

Dirty engines have packed in gooey crap you have to scrape out with a spatula .

To - day I worked a bit more on my old 250 i6 ~ I found what I think are rebuilder's tags , one on the back of the cylinder head , another in a welch plug on the left side of the block .

Everything was going O.K. , I was scraping off old crispy paint , then i wire brushed it a bunch then I tried to roll the engine a few feet for the next application of degreaser when CRASH ! the ding dang El Cheapo three legged engine stand tipped over , dumping my engine onto the cement driveway .

The chrome rockerbox is now all bashed in , too bad but I didn't like it anyways and was going to give it away .

I hoiseted the engine and stand back up and cleaned some more , this thing is going to look really spiffy when I'm done with it .

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Actually been over the last few days but, began Vintage Air install. Much more difficult than I was expecting, and just when I thought I was making headway I found out they sent me the wrong compressor mounting bracket. They did agree to send out the proper one but I'm still on hold for another week.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Converted my ol 68 C10 inline 6 cylinder from points ignition to an HEI set up. It runs so much smoother and better now. Finally got rid of that stumbling issue that popped up every now and then.
