Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
somehow hearing others talking about some of these healthproblems make me feel like i havent got it as bad as others have to live
age hands you things you realy dont want or where tinking of when you where young and invinceable and theres no choice in it hope everyone will mysteriously heal overnight and live without pain , but have as little chance of having it come treu as for my lottery ticket to reap 30.000.000.000 euro's today theres still hope though : i hope everyone has an awesome midnight and a great new year

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
my schedule keeps a straight line right around zero done for about 4 years sofar
dunno wat is the better line i did bought an engine for the project though , its being delivered tomorrow (yahoo) you guys are going to laugh : its a jaguar AJ6 6 inline and its going intoo a 1978 chevrolet c10 planning on buying the jaguar 4L80E transmission too its an odd ball engine but it wil make more power out of the box than a chevy inline 6 will make hotrodded to the hilt besides the jag engine cost about a 10th of the price of a used chevy unit were i live all aluminium block and head , steel crank . 3.6 liter . 24 valve . twin overhead cam . fuelinjection the engine doesnt take as mush space as the pickup so the first part of the project will be to get it running on a teststand with a megasquirt 2 setup

Sorry, but I'm not sold on that engine. SBC is the best way to go regardless of the price where you live.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
Once I get some of these small jobs out of the way I'm going to be working only on my 65 and my friends 40 Ford Woody.
I keep on taking on new jobs, but that's going to change. I already turned down 7 jobs. I want to drive my truck before I die.

Cool engine.. however... I disagree on the Jag engine being superior to the standard GM inline. However again... you gotta use what ya got.. :-)

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
yeahi know usually they pull these engines out in favor of a chevy small block
parts are way more expensive and theres little available for tuningparts other than that the engines are REALY strong and solid

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
the small block is the swiss army knife of the engines out there
you can buy any performance part under the sun for it to make it do just about anything and do it cheaply too it will take forever for the small block to die out even now that production of the small block has stopped at chevrolet because there so many parts made for it allready it will take that long for those parts to wear beyond economical repair ad to that the fact you can still build them from scratch with the parts available in the aftermarket personally i think for the price per horsepowe a stock but turbocharged and tuned LS engine has it beat but i agree the small block is still is best for starting intoo hot rodding or wrenching in general the truck now has a 305 small block in it if the registration didnt say inline 6 and if it would be so hard to have the truck reregistered as a V8 while still keeping its classic status i would be plunkin a LS type engine in it and be done it isnt and this engine is the cheapest / best / simplest alternative here in europe to the chevy 6 inline ........ as long as i dont want to buy performance / hotrod parts for it

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
I guess things are different in Europe than here. How's the torque on that engine?

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
according to wikipedia 165 kW (224 PS; 221 hp) with 325 N·m (240 lb·ft) cant find rpm but i know the engines dont like to rev too mush aspecially the 4.0 version wish has a verry long stroke
the ports are not verry whell matched to the intake and there a couple of other small things i can do to boost performance with a little time and not a lot of cash just making it breathe a little eazier can boost performance by 30 hp

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
OK, It's time for an update. Worked on the front part of the 73 Bed and did some metal work to match the rear. Also reshaped the running boards to blem into the rear fenders.
Before: After: The Running boards just didn't look right, so I did this to them. I also mad that small piece on thop of the running board to make it look like it should look like it's stock. BTW, I did both sides. Here is how I matched them. I think it looks much better than stock. It blends into with the fender, like it should have been.
