Nice work! Where did you purchase your windshield? Locally or ordered and shipped?

I tried ordering a windshield from Summit, but they were backordered for two months out, so I bought one locally. Paid $140 for it. I'm a little annoyed that it is made in China, but that's the way it goes these days. At least it has a nice green tint.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Replaced the rear main seal and oil pan gasket. Had to contend with a snapped off bolt the PO left for me. Bought a right angle drill from Harbor Freight to access the hole because it was right above the cross member. Hammered a Torx bit into it and fortunately it unscrewed. I felt like I won the lottery when that happened. The PO also used RTV on the entire rear main seal, so I had to make a scraper to very carefully clean out the passageway above the crank.

Changed my electric fuel pump on ol Samson, it was a pain to get to inside the frame rails with the exhaust but it’s done now.

It sure was a lot of work. I'm not sure I did anything unique on this repair. I followed various pieces of guidance I found from searching the forum. I used pieces of wood to support the hood while the hinge was removed. I removed the inner fender (I had already removed it to do some rust repair and paint). I had a hard time separating the heater box from the firewall because the previous owner had glued it on there with an excessive amount of RTV silicone. I purchased a copper/brass heater from npdlink.com based on lots of comments about the aluminum cores not fitting. I purchased a heater box seal set from GMC Paul's and glued the round seal and air box seal to the air box with weatherstrip adhesive.

Finally changed throttle out to a cable. Decided to add some bling, deluxe pedal assemblies while I was at it. And new floor mats to try and hide the hole in the carpet left by the floor mounted pedal

I got lucky with mine. The truck was all apart when I got it and had 3 cores and housings
in the boxes. One tested good and was an easy install with the whole front end off the truck. I hope I never have to go back in there.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Drivers side kick my butt today . I’m used to having the passenger side worse than the drivers it this was a farm truck. So I guess all the slop ended up there. Made all the patches myself most likely would have been harder with aftermarkets also put two coats of pour 15 on the passenger side.

I rented a hot power washer and de-greased the drive train and engine bay. PO's did not have a functioning PCV system and oil was misting everywhere. Now I can finally proceed with my engine update project!

I'm going to have to rent one of these. Need to do the 68 and in the past I've used ezoff and just my garden hose. Worked well but I haven't been able to find any oven cleaner in several stores . They've been sold out for weeks guess there's been a rush on even cleaners too

Tried engine cleaner but it really didnt work at all. The gunk stuff they must have changed the formula
