Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Master cylinder...
Honestly, Rick, you're better off rebuilding an OE piece than buying a McMaster Cylinder from McDonalds Auto Parts. 52.99 rebuild kit 14.99 rebuilt cylinder There's a reason it costs more...

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
What do you mean by "IT" still won't bleed? The Master Cylinder? Because that isn't right.
You bleed the Master Cylinder first (before installing), then - you bleed the lines second.

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Rick, pull the master and bench bleed it. If you can't get it bled...there's the source. If you can bleed it then work your way back....

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Alrighty just got my 67 vette master cylinder from kragens looks like is the same mounting and pilot hole (for lack of a better term) as the 71 c10 just has different looking resivoir a and a smaller 1" bore so this should make my brakes like I've always dreamed... At least I'm hoping... Man my truck slowly becoming a corvette/camaro! Haha

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Well front bled out but the rear is putting up a fight still I got the back passenger to bleed just fluid 3 times in a row a couple times but the back driver won't go and once I go back to the passenger it has air too... Going to try a couple things and maybe just try it a little more since I did open up the lines quite a bit to put on new parts... So we'll see CPP is having free shipping so I'm going Togo ahead and take advantage of that and get the rest of my parts ordered from them as well.

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
I'm guessing you are using the two person method, here are some tips to help you out.
Get a helper to pump the brake until the pedal is at maximum resistance then hold the brake pedal down while you release the valve and let out the air. Repeat this step until you are sure there is no more air in the line. The trick here is to get a tight fitting hose to slip over the valve with the other end in a tall skinny bottle of brake fluid so no air can get into the system. If it is being stubborn you can use a sand or rubber hammer to strike the caliper before you release the valve to force air bubbles out. Once you are done bleeding the system you can use a funnel and a coffee filter to put the unused brake fluid back into the main bottle. Last edited by Xeen; 08-07-2014 at 10:53 AM. |

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Shhhh I'm hoping nobody notices he's gone haha
Well I did some research on pinion angles and I was under the assumption you couldn't have the driveline level... But turns out the pinion and trans have to have matching angles and all is well and my pinion and trans have matching angles so I didn't bother with the switch. I did take out the 3 rivets (6 total for both passenger and driver sides) for the coil/shock crossmember out that are on top of the frame rails; my reason for this is 1 rivet was completely loose the one next to it had a gap between the frame and the hat of the rivet and the other one had a gap on the inside portion of the frame so I figured I might as well do them all since there have already either been messed up or either were installed wrong. So I got them out and replaced with fresh grade 8 hardware. I'm going to order my deluxe trac bar kit and c notch kit from CPP within the next couple of days. Thinking about ordering there shock relocation brackets to. |

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
They look like some pretty good parts to me and everything I've bought so far installed fairly easy and was real simple so I'm expecting the same from these parts as well. I really like the fact that the trac bar is adjustable.
Quote:
Well today brings me some disappointing news.. First off I got a email from CPP saying the trac bar is on backorder, so I haven't any clue when that's going to make it here. Also today I pulled the truck out of the garage and I look on the floor and there's a skim coat of tranny fluid on the floor.. It's not just a couple spots, it's probably 1 foot by 2 feet in size.. So I've gotta find out what the heck happened. I wanted to wait til November or December maybe even January to put the 700r in but I'm thinking I may have to put it in already if the 350 keeps leaking. I'm gonna do some searching and see what's going on. |

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
What the...
That's a huge shift from needing to fix a transmission leak. What the heck happened that made you want to blow thousands of dollars on a LS swap? Get ready for some serious financial pain this isn't going to be cheap. Last edited by Xeen; 08-30-2014 at 11:29 AM. |

Re: 1967 Chevy CST aka "the loud truck"
Now the truck isn't actually my truck my mom and dad bought it, which is fine with me because I get to drive it and see how it drives and feels, but I still get to have my 67! I am in disbelief that there's a 2014 sitting in the driveway, I'm blown away!
