Forgot to post pictures the other day so I did and now you can see them. It only has surface rust and the center ridge is stright with no defects except for a small dent on the drivers side of the hood.

Re: 1968

I got around to getting my sand blasting sand today. It's going to rain tomorrow and Wednesday so I want get to sand blast the hood. So I guess I will catch up on some of my honey do list. Got to pour some concrete for a side walk to the shop. and the the Mother-In-Law cottage. and install some sideing on the shop. By then I will be able to start working on the truck again.
I did find the part to the transmission shifter, it bolts to the transmission. I got it from a fellow board member. (new part)
I sent off my steering column a few weeks ago and he called me and said it was done. He only charged me 40.00 labor plus parts. What a deal.

I know this probably isn't a main concern but what kind of fuel economy are you dropping down with this combination...

My 327/400 combo was running 456 gears and was only dropping down 6-7 mpg... I really would like to see 13-14... so my thoughts were to run a 700r4 with some 330ish gears....

Thanks For you opinion... Dan

Re: 1968

Well, today I got down to business and ordered a lot of small parts from
Classis Parts of America. total 32 items. There was two items that I ordered the shipping cost more than the item. Bed angle strips cost 29.95 a pair and shipping was 27.95 and angle strip covers cost 24.95 a pair and shipping cost 27.95.
I paid more shipping cost on these two items than the rest of the stuff combined. But now I have almost everything I need to put the baby to bed. I said almost. I sure there will be items I over looked.

yea I know it is cold up there guys. I follow the weather and I am thankfull I live in Florida. We are the only state in the us that has no snow on the ground.(except for Hawaii) Got a few more parts in today. Maybe I will get what I need to start something. Seems like I only get parts that i don't need now. Waiting for the money to get right before I get the wiring harness.

Re: 1968

I started sand blasting the hood today. Worked untill the shadows started to cover my work. then it was to hard to see so I stopped. Tomorrow I will finish the hood and maybe put on some primer and see if there is any bodywork to do.

Re: 1968

Today I finshed sand blasting the hood. What a job. At 65 it took it all out of me. I am spent. I also sand blasted the door hinges. There was 4 layers of paint and primer on the hinges.
picturs before I sand blasted

pictures after I sand blasted

My 80 lb sand basted done all it could do today. You can see some of the black primer in square spots.
I then sand blasted the 4 hinges

I ordered a 15'' chrome over flow tank
door sill plates also chrome with Chevrolet boetie in the middle
door felt kit for both doors
ingition and door keys

i am hopeing to prime the hood and hinges Monday. I got the parts in the shop where no moisture can get to them untill Monday.

Re: 1968

Today I welded up the wear spot on the shifter mount to frame. It had a little wear and now it don't. Getting ready for the shifter to be installed.
Also made a deal on a rear bed sill. Who said that things don't go your way. Thanks Steve from Texas.

Well today did not go as planned. I did not get to work on the hood. Had to put a new water pump in the washer for the wife. But I did get some more parts in today.
