Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
Wow, those look really durable, wish I'd used them. I used cutup truck mudflaps for my body pads I need to read more catalogs.

Got all the rivet on parts I wanted to remove from the frame before I have it powder coated, WHOOOO HOOOO! And best of all, no drama tonight.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
Spent the day on my back under the dash doing the typical 1000 sit-ups wiring job. I took a couple of days just organizing the wires before ever terminating one. Got my headlight switch, dimmer switch and gauges wired. Like everything on my truck, I want to do it right but I'm not going to get overly meticulous because this will be a daily driver.
BTW, those quad gauges sure simplify wiring - only one set of wires for the 4-gauge unit instead of separate wires for each gauge.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
OMG I should have SHUT MY MOUTH about the no drama! I have been up since 1 am when we got a text from our son that he was in the ER in a hospital about 40 miles from here after a car accident! It was a very bad accident apparently testing his roll bar and though he has a serious breakage to one of his feet and his face is all swollen the car looks like his injuries would be much worse. We just got home with him and it's going to be rough going the next number of days before he goes in for surgery. I wish I had a copy of the xray, holy crap, four bones broke in his food with one of them looking like a piece of ice hit with a hammer, CRAP! Our house is now a rehab center with wheel chair and walker and all, geeez.

It has not been a good week for you, Brian. So glad that he was able to come home, but it sounds like a serious time rehabbing. My thoughts will be with you guys.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
Thanks guys, this SUCKS big time. He had a horribly broken leg when he was 14 I had to drive to a near by Trauma ward to see him after it was broken, NOT a good time. This was no better even though he is a man, it was no better, DAMN.
And the first car he bought himself, he has been enjoying it so much (1997 Miata) it is GONE, damn is he lucky! Brian

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
Got all my lights wired up, thinking I have a bad turn signal relay and need to swap it with one of them new fanged electronic relays.
Opted to have the running lights and headlights run together, I always liked that for some reason.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
I am still beat, went to the birthday party of the guy I bought the truck from in 74, that was good times. I stopped at the Goodguys show I wanted to attend yesterday with my son. Anyway, got home and did some parts documenting, cracks me up the stuff I find when I do this.
But check out this photo shopped picture a guy did for me on another forum. This IS my truck that is in my mind, this has fired me up big time, HOLY CRAP that is my truck right there! How friggin cool is that! Brian

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
Wired in my turn signal unit. I really love these old-timey levers, and the illuminated handle means I don't need to install separate indicators.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
I got out there and changed the flapper valves and oil in my compressor, it does sound better. But damn if they didn't give me the proper valves, the most important one was correct so that's cool, but the other that I welded wasn't right. It's the upper piece that simply stops the flapper from flipping off breaking. So I am thinking it will be ok.
I also went through another box doing my parts inventory and I can't believe the stuff I find that I forget I had. This is literally scary, not joking, my mom died of Alzheimer's, this isn't fun. I just went through this one box a few months ago. The last box I went through there were two glove box doors, one kinda nice and I thought ok, I will be doing that one. I open up this box and wrapped up in foam sheets there is a flawless, rechromed glove box door! And fully perfectly polished upper and lower center dash grille mouldings! Geeez, I a bunch more stuff that I remembered but had totally forgotten I had this glove box door. Brian

I misled you. I was writing the note at 5:30 eastern time (2:30 AM PST). I had quit for the night around 9:00 PM last night, but will be back at it here in about an hour.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
Completed all my lights, the relay I ordered was faulty but I found one in the garage and made it work.
Messed around with the AC wiring, finished mounting all the grounds and mocked up the relays. Had the wife help me determine that I am going to extend the ECM wiring and mount it under the seat. Mounted the AC vents to only find I don’t like them and need to start from scratch. Also found more rust to fix.
