Re: 72 k20 project
I caught wind of these when they were in final prototype stage. I called that day and ordered them. my first question was, are you having them polished? Thankfully no. The surfacing work on the cnc is very impressive and gives it a nice bright but not shiny color. I love them.
You betcha. I mentioned how I thought that would be killer when I talked to them. I'm glad they ended up offering that. I'd love to have a set anodized before the pocket was milled in handle, then mill that in raw. I have plans to own more of these... Haha. the colors you can choose from for custom anodizing are pretty vast. |

Re: 72 k20 project
Sorry fellas, I didn't realize that it had been so long. Everything is good here and I appreciate the thoughts. My wife is a pretty specialized RN and travels for work. She was able to take a contract locally so it's been easy not to get on the computer as much when we are usually doing things together. I'll post up some pics soon I promise!

Re: 72 k20 project
Thanks Pete!
It probably wouldnt be a bad thing. especially depending on where in the world you may be. here i am less worried, but i may drop them off with a paint guy and have a few layers of clear put on them just to assure they stay fresh. Quote:

anyhow, i will proceed with some pics The diff cover was waiting on tabs last i posted. here is the process for that 4140 insert and a pocketed hole in 6061 for the tab with the cover welded and all mounted up. the tie rod clamp |

Re: 72 k20 project
i decided to rebuild the alternator mount. it had the stock cummins upper mount and an adapter plate i made to space it up a bit. i wanted something one piece.
part of the motivation for that was the need for air inlet tubing support. i made a bracket down low and a support rod off of the alt mount for the top. now the compressor snout wont be supporting the weight. next was oil lines. i used a strait and a 90* #10 ORB adapter to get out of the oil cooler housing. the #10 lines split into #8s and go to the dual filters in parallel. they are not tied down in the pics, i built them and hid them on the shelf so they are not in the way for now. |

Re: 72 k20 project
i also had some clutch pedal things to address. i located the master and mocked up the pedal a while back, but decided to change it up for a better pedal feel and all that.
i guess i didnt take any pics of the firewall bracket for the master. so here is the start of the pedal mod. the Valair 3rd gen hydros come with this little rod end on the push rod. the tabs are its future i am also stretching the line between master and slave to far for reliable long term operation, so i picked up a few of these adapters for the pivot ends they use. i will build the line when i pull the bracket off the firewall for paint. i also have the brake pedal and push rod rigged up but have a few more things to do to call to it paint ready. |

Re: 72 k20 project
I also finally dragged the welder over and welded the rear shock mounts. i should get some limit straps soon for the rear. once i have them i can mount the tabs and paint all this.
weld pics.... i also sketched this flare press tool and had a buddy burn it out on the cnc. the punch is 4140 it makes a 37* tube flare on 1" .065" wall SS sanitary tube. all made up and threaded on a #16 adapter. i have a cart-full of sanitary ells and some more tube to make up what will end up being the oil pick up tube, when i get to there...
