Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Sorry to hear this about Cindy Doug!
40 years is a long time, last August I was married with my Peggy for 30 years! Not many can say that nowadays.... So enjoy the time together, we have been dealing with this not long ago with my sister in law, so I know.... On/off topic, almost did the HRPT with you guys, but was at such a short notice, it was too expensive for us to arrange it unfortunatly. You know, my son and daughter gave me a full ticket for Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender next year, my firsttime to the states!! Never came further than Curacao Haha, been there 10 or 11 times, worked there by friends, always good times! When we can, we want to visit you if we’re close by. Thinking of you two Doug!!

Hey guys, thank you for your kind words, positive thoughts and prayers.
We did get in some shop time with the boys driving nails in a stump and and wailing away on some metal. Train them up and they will help on the Burb...course at the speed I am going the little one will be able to drive it to prom about the time we get it done. |

Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Thanks guys. We unfortunately lost the four year battle last week. Thought we had it beat for a year and a half then it came back. She stayed positive and upbeat to the end. Obviously this is a devastating loss for me, my family and our many friends.
While I know she went home to the Lord, it isn’t possible to explain how wonderful she was, so I will just say this. She was the greatest blessing the Lord has provided me here on earth. Please check Proverbs 31:10 - 31 as these verses describe her and I was thankful to be her husband for 35 years. Oh, she also wants me to finish this Suburban (more on that later), to take her 72 Burb on HRPT 2019, take the kids and Grandkids to Disney in 2019, gave me a short list of women to stay away from (they just will want your money!), a longer list of women she is ok with (you need someone to spend time with honey!), then enlisted her sister and a friend to make sure I follow through and even planned her celebration of life service with me and our Minister. Like I said, she was special. I will love her forever and a day. |

Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Guys, thank you all for the kind words and prayers!
Now, Cindy wanted me to get this Suburban built so here is what we are gonna do .... Friends, we are putting together a "WIRE AND FIRE" shop day on Saturday, January 19, 2019 in my heated shop. You are all invited and if you would like to attend, please send me a PM. Our goal will be to wire, plumb and fire up the LS equipped 1948 Suburban Cindy and I were building. We will be using cool parts from Holley, Dakota Digital, American Autowire and others for a really fun time. Food, snacks and beverages will be plentiful! Let's break up the winter doldrums, spend some time together having fun and make some great memories! And hey, if we want to do more on Sunday that's ok too. Will you make it? |

Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
And additional new parts are already showing up!
A number of my good friends are already making plans for our “Wire and Fire” day. We will have everything well prepped, parts will be very organized and various build elements will be identified with a talented point person heading that up. For example, Nathan is a very talented tech, an LS swap guru and wiring Einstein, so he will be point on the wiring. Other folks will be heading up fuel system, some metal shaping, air ride system, and Wilwood brakes. To stay organized and efficient, folks that want to participate can initially sign up with helping in one specific area listed above and then rotate to another area when ever they want. Plus there will be plenty of chairs for bench racing too. And we are a down to earth friendly bunch, no ego’s here, so we will have a great time. |

Thanks for the kind words Mark and Rickysnickers! The Lord is giving me strength.
We will have a good time Jan 19. Mongo and Mark, you should come. Joedoh is going to try to make it. There will be quite a bit of pre-work done so our time goes smoothly. First thing though is I need to move this out. |
