Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
For the 4th I made my sparks with my welder...
I started with getting the accelerator pedal mounting holes drilled, welded a plate over the original accelerator linkage hole in the firewall, then filled some extraneous holes in the firewall (via markeb01's method, coins and JB Weld.. Thanx Mark) For the plate to fill the old linkage hole, I cut a piece of the step side fender that I'd removed for the taillight buckets I frenched in… IMG_4200 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr IMG_4201 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Here's the hole to be covered… IMG_4202 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Here's the new setup loosely sitting in it's location with the plate welded and primed… IMG_4204 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Here's the square hole for the accelerator cable… IMG_4205 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Here's the hole filling process… IMG_4206 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Here's the new firewall pad laid out… Thanx to Bret for the info on the place this was ordered from… IMG_4207 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Tomorrow it's time to apply some Peel and Seal, then install the pad...

And I will add Nicola's and my wishes to all of you on here as well.
I did a FB wish to all my USA friends yesterday when we woke up. Trust you all got to spend it with friends and family in the way it was intended. Neat. Progress Don.

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Today started out with a trip into town to collect some dirt to finish up some honeydooz... Upon retuning home I used a defunct trampoline frame to fashion 2 racks… they will be used to store the above mentioned dirt, and eventually be used to support the stepper bed for the remaining bodywork and paint…
I then rolled the '65 out into the sun to do some work... I sprayed the color on the dash, colour for my English mates... IMG_4210 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Then it was time for the peel & Seal… IMG_4217 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr IMG_4219 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr JoJo had to check it out... IMG_4226 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr After the Peel & Seal, I installed the new Firewall Pad... Thanks to Bret for his input, the tool for the Pad retaining clips was invaluable... IMG_4227 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr IMG_4231 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Dash, Firewall Pad and the Peel & Seal… The Accelerator Pedal mounted as well... IMG_4240 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr We'll see what tomorrow brings...

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
That is super impressive Don.
Really moving along and getting that glare from the end of the tunnel your eyes. Insulated cab will obviously be a great place to be.

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Looking good Don . I think I will have to get one of those pads . Was it very expensive ? . The funny thing is we all spend time getting the floor looking good ,then cover it with sound deadening ,then cover It with a carpet

Truck and car shop had this pad for $56 and the retainer tool was $8 (Worth the money) Clips are included with the pad… Here's a link, click order online to navigate their catalog… http://www.truckandcarshop.com/6072.html Also be aware, these clips are a pain to install (at least mine were) The tool seemed to want to stay stuck in the clip after they were pounded in… there were extra clips, thankfully, as I destroyed 3 in the process...

How heavy is the pad, and more importantly, can it be folded to suitcase size, or rolled up?

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Rian, the pads are fairly light (a couple of kg's max) mine came (from LMC) already rolled up for shipping. You will need the tool for fitting the clips, they are like hollow plastic Christmas trees, a bit of a pain even with the tool!
Don, fantastic progress, it's looking great
