Re: My Facetruck thread.

There is an old oil boom town in Arkansas named Smackover.

The French named it Sumac Couvrir because of the Sumac that covered the area. As time went on it became Smackover.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

So Smack-over not Smack-cover? I've seen it take over for sure. I had a folksy natural gal years ago who made "Indian Lemonade" with it and dried it to use as a spice. I think she used it to dye with, too.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

A man in northern Minnesota woke up one morning to find a bear on his roof. He looked in the Yellow Pages, and sure enough, there was an ad for "Up North Bear Removers." He called the number listed and the bear remover said he'd be over within an hour.

The bear remover arrived, and got out of his van. He had a ladder, a baseball bat, a 12 gauge shotgun, and a mean looking, heavily scarred old pit bull.

"What are you going to do.?" the homeowner asked.

"I'm going to put this ladder up against the roof, then I'm going to go up there, and knock the bear off the roof with this baseball bat. When the bear falls off the roof, the pit bull is trained to grab his testicles, and not let go. The bear will then be subdued enough for me to put him in the cage in the back of the van."

He then handed the shotgun to the homeowner. "What's the shotgun for?" the homeowner asked.

"If the bear knocks me off the roof, you shoot the dog."

Re: My Facetruck thread.

Winter Bear WARNING

The Colorado State Department of Fish and Wildlife is advising hikers,
hunters, fishers, and golfers to take extra precautions and keep
alert for bears while in the Dillon, Breckenridge, Keystone area. They
advise that people wear noise producing devices such as small bells
on their clothing to alert but not startle the bears unexpectedly.

They also advise you to carry pepper spray in case of an encounter
with a bear. It is also a good idea to watch for fresh signs of bear
activity. People should recognize the difference between black bear
and grizzly bear droppings.

Black bear droppings are smaller, and sometimes purple in color and
contain berries and possibly squirrel fur. Grizzly bear droppings are
larger and smell like pepper and have small bells in them.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

An atheist was walking through the woods. 'What majestic trees!' 'What powerful rivers!' 'What beautiful animals!' He said to himself. As he was walking alongside the river, he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. He turned to look. He saw a 7-foot grizzly bear charge towards him. He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his shoulder and saw that the bear was closing in on him. He looked over his shoulder again, and the bear was even closer. He tripped and fell on the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up but saw that the bear was right on top of him, reaching for him with his left paw and raising his right paw to strike him. At that instant moment, the Atheist cried out: 'Oh my God!' Time stopped. The bear froze. The forest was silent. As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the sky. 'You deny my existence for all these years, teach others I don't exist and even credit creation to cosmic accident.' 'Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament?' 'Am I to count you as a believer?' The atheist looked directly into the light, and said: 'It would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask you to treat me as a Christian now, but perhaps you could make the BEAR a Christian?' 'Very well', said the voice. The light went out. The sounds of the forest resumed. And the bear dropped his right paw, brought both paws together, bowed his head and spoke: 'Lord bless this food, which I am about to receive from Thy bounty through Christ our Lord, Amen.'

Re: My Facetruck thread.

its so hard for me to slow down and smell the Christmas Trees
This evening
My son and I dropped off this tree
We laughed with the customer
How it’s been 15 or 20 years we’ve been lifting it through their window
I said I remember doing it alone
He said, I remember when you brought some little boy with you !
That is the little boy
Time flies
Man, I’m trying to soak it in !!

Re: My Facetruck thread.

I'm curious how much people spend on real trees out there. This isn't an IRS audit, just curious what the 'range' is or maybe just the highest price (frocked up and all) price you have "heard".

I wonder what they are costing in areas so far from where they grow as well. It's been years since I've heard prices around the country. My area is the hot and heavy cut your own tree farm area for folks in the city & suburbs to come. Most places do $25 any tree (and go frock yourself)
