Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Well today I changed out the cap and rotor for my HEI distrib, by the way I had know idea it was that involving, cleaned out my carb and adjusted the idle. I took her for a nice drive around Puyallup, got a few looks from people, either my truck is cool or the belt on it was screaming and sounding like it was going to blow up...I am going to go with "my truck is cool" next week changing belts, hopfully that will get rid of my screeching sound when I gas it. Also installed a tach, I figured that will help with tuning up the truck. I eventually would like to get the original tach gauge for my truck, but I have been unable to find one yet in my price range.

Pulled mine away from her room mate and drove it down the road. Then used my cell phone to take pictures before tucking her back into bed

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I finally got the power steering pump mounted. Couldn't find the backet that mounted to the head and exhaust, so I ended up making one. I think it looks better than a stock one, other than the paint on it that I wrecked. I'll have to touch that up

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Thanks Airspeed..
I spent two hours driving around to our local wrecking yards looking to see if they had anything, only to find out that I was lucky to find any wrecks that were older than 1988,, getting harder and hard here to find any old stuff, I figured I wasted more time looking for the part than it actually took me to make it.....I know for next time at least. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I finally figured out why the truck is smoking and where my break fluid was going. Ya not cool. My master cylinder is leaking into the power booster. I will be getting the new master cylinder tomorrow.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Well I started my new suspension work this weekend. Got all of the front and rear dismantled and started installing the new CPP stuff. Got the Center crossmember installed and was hoping to get the new trailing arms and air bags installed but CPP forgot to send the bushings for the trailing arms ! So I started to install the front stuff and got as far as installing the new upper control arms and realized the the lower control arms are on back order! Oh well, I had a blast working on my truck all weekend and got quite a bit done all things considered!http://http://s275.photobucket.com/a...20C10%20Truck/

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Well lets see, I did a few things today...
1. Pulled the 83 LWB parts truck into the shop and pulled the front clip and interior pieces... 2. Got side-tracked, drove my 70 into the shop, changed the oil, 5 Qts. Delo 400 with a Fram extra guard filter, and cut the bumpstops off the lower A- arms thet were causing it to bottom out... 3. Tore the worn out and broken bench seat out of the 86 K10 farm truck, replaced with a nice one from the parts truck... 4. Got side tracked again, and took the 70 for a spin, only to get up to 65 mph and remember that my cylinders were completely out in the rear brakes, So after some pedal pumping I got it slowed down and returned to the shop... 5. Jumped in the 2010 to run up to town and pick up the rear brake cylinders, only to find out the parts store closed at 7:00, and it was 7:15. Ugh. owell, its been a long day.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Went and picked up the cab/chassis and the spare cab (mounted on a dolly). Took the chassis to the youngest sons' house and put it in the garage. Put the cab-on-dolly behind the camper in my driveway. These pix are taken where we picked 'em up.
On Sunday, son and I removed the rear bumper, the 2-inch hitch receiver, both doors and then gutted the doors. Still gotta pull the brake booster and MC off of the firewall. Then, we gotta ditch the old cab and start cleaning the chassis for paint. All in all, a good weekend. Time with son (he's 27) and time spent productively on the '69. We got more done in 3 hours than the guy I paid has done in the past 3 years.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Gave my driver's-side header a little more clearance, primered the passenger's door, switched the fronrt tires to the correct sides ,
chased some more wires under the dash. "Finished" the tilt install, connected the front brake line cross-over. But most fun was mocking up the 1" (5 x 5 to 5 x 5) spacer on the rear behind the Boss 338 20's and 275/55's. The rear wheels just needed to come out a touch from where they were for my taste. I don't know the back spacing on these, because I assumed that the Boss 20's were only made in one back-spacing. Whatever they were, now they're an inch "wider" per side.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Replaced a dead battery, dead starter, and passenger caliper. Heads up to any one running 6 lugs, stock 15" steelies, and using an Early Classic disc swap. It don't jibe. After much clearancing of the caliper and wheel, trying spacers. I ended up killing the calipers and using GM 16" spare rims. EC knows this but doesn't say so in there literature. Lesson learned.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I dropped driveshaft parts off to have a new one made. As soon as it gets done I can drive it for the first time as a 4x4. I bet it drives different than it did as a 2wd.
