Re: 1968

Nothing done on the old girl today. I had to do some more honey do's. Installed a new sink and faucet in the kitchen. Got a new 50'' flat screen led tv and a new computer. Now I know she will be happy. The computer was over due.

Drove past your town yesterday, should of stopped and helped you mow! Stuck in Mississippi now, waiting for weather to get better to make back home to Illinois. Truck is looking good and all that attention your putting into those small parts will set it off nicely. Here's a picture to keep you cool while you mow. Dave.

Re: 1968

Today I set up the hood to paint the underside. I was shocked on how much sand was still left in the ribs when I sand blasted it. I took my air nozzle and blew it out before I painted the primer. but still there is more sand. I would like to remove the sand entirely before I paint the orange on the underside. I don't want and sand to get in the fresh paint. any ideas guys. Would water remove the sand. or would that make a even more of a mess. I have been installing new doors in a friends house, so I haven't done anything on the truck.

George... The only way to get rid of the sand is to just keep blowing it with compressed air... Turning the hood several time to move the sand around... it is a lone hard process... By the way if you have the guys contact info that rebuilt your column PM it to me please...

Re: 1968

Today, I started sanding on the underside of the hood. It seems like a ton of sand got on the fresh primer. It has been raining for two days here. But I will take the rain over the snow any day. Still blowing sand out of the ribs on the underside of the hood. Maybe soon I can paint the underside and install it back on the truck.

Re: 1968

I finshed sanding the underside of the hood today. I was going to paint but the weather did not get warm enough 45 here today. I did get all the sand out of the ribs.

Re: 1968

Today, I painted the underside of the hood. It came out real sweet.

I also painted the hood latch and the door hinges.

Next week sometime I want to paint the two doors. I have to figure a way that I can hang the door without leaving a spot that is not painted.
The weather was really nice and warm today. almost 80 so I took the hood and hinges out in the sun and let the sun bake the paint.

Re: 1968

Is the whole door going to be orange? Could you hang it by a sturdy hook that runs up into the top of the window seal area? With a larger mouthed hook, you might be able to get the paint in behind it. Just my two cents. Mine'll be two tone, so I shouldn't have that issue.

Hood looks slick, by the way. Good to see lots of paint going on. Still working towards getting the rest of the cab this coming week?
