Still in the back of my mind, though I no longer own an early hood. I’ve been toying with the idea of a ‘68 clip swap, too, but that drives the need for paint and continues the snowball. Plan for now is to bolt the ‘70 hood back on using the All-American Billet low profile, stock location hinges. We’ll see what actually happens

Well, the kids are back in school, so it’s garage time

Made a small amount of progress tonight by installing the correct LS engine mounts from PB. I had previously been trying to use the smallblock mounts with adapter plates, which was causing all sorts of issues, most immediately, poor header fitment. The LS specific mounts move the engine forward slightly, but most importantly are about an inch taller than the SBC version.

The long tubes from Speed Engineering now fit like they were made for it: the drivers side front primary tucks in nice and tight to the block for steering shaft clearance, the passenger front primaries now clear the upper coilover mount, and the collectors tuck up in the frame quite nicely

Nice!!!! Looks great Chris!!! I ran a set of Chevelle headers on my '82 C10 with a 350 and they tucked up nice like that too....only difficulty was the factory trans crossmember....just wish mine had the LS power like yours...maybe for Raymond

Thanks a lot Chevelle headers usually do well on these trucks. After talking to Speed Engineering, apparently the C10 and Chevelle longtubes are the same part with different part numbers...

Not much on this one, other than continuing to stockpile parts (including a Muncie, goodbye automatic!). Also ordered the All-American Billet hood hinges, which are an 8-10 week wait... Now that the engine is in its final resting place, everything else flows from there. More to come, soon.

Otherwise, I’ve been spending my free time tinkering with the Blazer, fixing some nagging issues

I am new to this site, about 20 minutes old. I have a 70 C10 that I am trying to fix up myself. I was wondering if you could recommend where to buy parts. I know of LMC, Summitt and Classic Industries. I am wanting to purchase a new tailgate, front grill and the break lights and the fuel lines that go from the tank to the front

Welcome to the site! In addition to Brothers, GMC Pauls, Classic Heartbeat, and Truck and Car Shop are some of my favorites. I avoid LMC, for the most part, due to cheaper quality parts...

Which Muncie is that?

I would love to go back to a stick, but with my wife's neck problems she wouldn't be able to drive me if I overly indulge in the barley pop's after we cruise somewhere. Not to mention, I would have a hard time giving up my overdrive and the aftermarket 5 and 6 speeds that would handle the torque are quite pricey.

It’s an M21, close-ratio. I’m with you, $2500 for a tranny is outta my league for now. This should work out pretty decent with the 3:73 rear and 29” tires. Interstate will be ‘fun’, but that’s how we all used to do it and I’m not super concerned about fuel mileage.

Also, since I’ve settled on a manual, I went ahead and ordered a Brian Tooley stage 3 cam, ya know, because I no longer have to worry about buying a stall converter, and +60 hp with a choppy idle is old school cool, too

It’s an M21, close-ratio. I’m with you, $2500 for a tranny is outta my league for now. This should work out pretty decent with the 3:73 rear and 29” tires. Interstate will be ‘fun’, but that’s how we all used to do it and I’m not super concerned about fuel mileage.

Also, since I’ve settled on a manual, I went ahead and ordered a Brian Tooley stage 3 cam, ya know, because I no longer have to worry about buying a stall converter, and +60 hp with a choppy idle is old school cool, too
I'm running an M21 too. I was originally planning on running a hydraulic slave style bellhousing but it would hit the header. I ended up getting a Tilton hydro throwout bearing and an adapter ring from Modern Driveline.

Should be butter smooth when I get it all setup.
