Man that carpet fits nice. Almost looks like it was "sprayed" in! And what an impact with the seat in place. Just beautiful.

Thanks Marke. I'm real pleased with the carpet. I laid it out in the sun for half a day while I worked on other projects. I still have 1 wrinkle to work out on the top of the trans hump in front of the shifter (see pic), but my buddy says to give it a few days with the cab sealed up and it will probably work itself out. This carpet also had the jute preinstalled. Also the 1st one I've done since my 69 chevelle back in 97 or 98. Really changed the look of the truck. I have a real nice rubber mat still, so it went into the fleetside.

And my wife was sure glad to finally get the seat out of the house. I was even more glad to get it installed in the truck. Also....looks like plenty of clearance on the shifter, but will definitely know once the hydraulic clutch is bled. And seat still has two positions to the rear left on the tracks. I'm pleased with how its all turning out so far. And the polished seat adjuster handle really pops.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Was out working in the yard yesterday, so not much to report. UPS did show up with my new hood springs, so stopped and installed them and then back to yard work.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

I ordered these from classic industries $12.99 each and you don't have to paint these. A lot of the ones I see are raw steel and these are finished. Just unwrap and install.

http://www.classicindustries.com/pro...ts/152684.html

Also got my radiator hoses in today from Napa. All my literature printed down and ready for the auto adjusters in the rear, new rear cylinders and shoes. Have Austin turning down drums sometime this week too.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

I'm looking forward to seeing how well these support the hood. I know some of the repops are kind of weak, while others are OEM strength. I'd like to put a new set on my truck that hold the hood open and don't need to be painted.

Well, hope to have the hood on in the next week or two. I have to respray the front end 1st and then the hood....so won't be too long. I was pleased with the quality and finish of them. They do measure the same as the originals....checked on two other trucks prior to install. And were definitely stronger going on than the ones I removed. I have been happy with everything I've gotten from Classic Industries so far. I can get a better pic of the springs and the finish on them tonight.

True....but most of the vendors are about the same. I use various vendors for various parts. Keep eyes peeled for free shipping and I use the forum discount where I can also. It does help to shop around sometimes though. But mostly Brothers, Truck Parts of Orange Co (who im told has a east coast location now), Classic Parts and Classic Industries for most things I can't replace with OEM or rebuild myself.

Classic Parts and Classic Industries have the fastest shipping if you ask me though for what its worth and Classic Industries seems to have a slightly better quality part for most things I get from them.

Bit of a slowdown as I am remodeling our bedroom, read new paint and flooring, and preparing to pour a slab for my upcoming shop/garage...

You are an inspiration as I watch all that you accomplish...

Thanks...I get my inspiration by watching others myself. I also have to pour concrete for my shop. Will be in a few weeks hopefully. My wife also wants me to redo our bathroom. So hoping to get the stepside on the road before she wants that done.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Pouring rain most of the week which has slowed me down some. Suppose to break Fri/Sat. Did get out and work on the carb linkage issue. Looks like a factory V8 linkage will work just fine. Plenty of clearance and plenty of adjustment left. Will get it painted up, have ordered new bushings and will grab some new cotter pins this weekend. Still need to remove the I6 linkage and pull the throttle cable bracket off and install on the V8 linkage.

Its nice to be able to use factory hardware where I can.

Also got the radiator hoses on, just the water pump bypass to install which shouldn't take more than a few minutes at most.

Agreed. And it makes it much easier since the motor wasn't a factory option. A lot of the aftermarket parts still require a certain amount of fab or fitting to make them work and I don't want a cable system.

Amen. I've always loved the old throttle linkage feel over cable.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

And more great news. I contacted American Autowires who I purchased all my harness's from. I asked if they could make or alter my original forward harness so that I can get my alternator hooked up. Its on the passenger side now due to the lwp system. They said no problem and actually advocated sending the harness back so they could modify it for me instead of purchasing a new one. What more can I say other than great customer service.

I would definitely advocate for anyone needing harness's or modifications to existing ones to contact them. I'll have the harness pulled tonight and off to them tomorrow for the modification.

I know that just lengthening the wires is not a life changing task, but I'm no electrician and prefer plug and play when possible so I will gladly let them do the job. Just wanted to pass that on to the rest of the forum.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Another rainy night so took advantage of it where I could and completed the HEI wire harness install. American Autowire Kit #04305H Requires removing the pink wire from the ignition and fire wall. A new pink wire is installed and the existing ignition pink is pigtailed into the new pink line. The firewall pink is folded over and taped off and new harness installed in the engine bay. American Autowire gave good instructions and took maybe 1/2hr total to complete.

Also got the forward harness removed and boxed up so I can send it to them and have the alternator wires lengthened.
