Re: PO has me PO'd

Not sure as the bracket has welded nuts on it, that would mount the bracket thru dash, these may be machine screws

Re: PO has me PO'd

Correct two of them that go thru the dash panel should be 1/4 20 and the two that are not threaded will be what I posted above.

Let me go get a picture of the complete unit

Thanks Richard for the offer of parts over the years, you have been a great help. bolts and screws should be here, but it's been 20 years since I took it apart

Chased the threads, and 1/4-20 seems to work. Of course, the PO used the wrong screw driver and screwed up the head

Found 1 screw, may have to hit you up for 1 screw

Started to work on the FAST harnesses again, while some of the leads need to be used, not all of the XIM, the harness leads for the XFI are used while some of the XIM are duplicated( such as the MAP), but there may be more, as I hook this up
1 of the leads that are coming out of the XFI harness is for the crank sensor, that I won't be using, was told by FAST to just ignore or cut off, since my XIM harness has the leads for crank and cam sensors from my EFI parts, I've changed the connections so I can plug in directly to the 2 sensors

Now to hole saw(1 1/4") into my firewall, going to slice grommet and super glue back together, don't feel like depinning all the connecters to get it through grommet

Connections I am working on now;

DS and PS coil driver

Cam/ hall effects

Cam and Crank sensors

ground(-)

Re: PO has me PO'd

With all the time and effort you're spending on this, that harness from FAST is cheap looking. Consider replacing that convoluted tubing with some braided sleeving from Wirecare Just a thought.

AJ, I agree with you 100%, but this was my last attempt to resolve the issue

Needless to say, after two new harness's, I'm taking baby steps....

I have the wrap you are referring too

Post #2901 was a debacle

You made me chuckle, just can't get all the connecters through the size hole that's needed for the firewall grommet, don't know why they wouldn't put the grommet on the harness before the connecters

This the beginning of my build season

Have to go back and edit the pics for slplanng

The tape wants to roll, memory. Found this gold plated tool in her toolbox( she passsed several months ago). A note hand written by her said "tools go to Jim" and her retirement clock. tools were gold plated when she retired from CPPC. She was the only woman in the engineering dept.. And her job was to repair broken wires the size of your hair. Company built guidance controls for the Apollo moon shot

Re: PO has me PO'd

That rubber inside the grommet will stretch. It's a bear, but it will. I have two of those on the truck, one for the FAST wiring and another for misc stuff. The second one has over an inch of wiring thru it, wrapped in braided sleeve. Getting the 4L80 harness and plug thru it was a nightmare...until I got creative.

Here's what I did.... I took a transmission funnel (lubed with lithium grease) and gradually ran it thru the grommet to open it up. Think speculum. Then cut the end of the funnel off and passed everything thru. Pulled the funnel back out and cut it off the harness.

Thanks for the tip!!! Bear, is a understatement, there were times, it woundn't budge. I was thinking lube, but wasn't sure.

Waiting for my 1 1/2" sheathing to come in from( F-6) Wire Care, then I can put it all back together, and start to make my connections

Thanks for the help

With my skills of rod tying and fly tying, I may have found a way to keep the skrunky sound out my shielding, wraping thread around it seems to keep it aligned, we'll see as I keep working on it

[url=https://flic.kr/p/2cVQW1R]20181115_163755

It seems that If you twist the shielding, it will allow it to lay better...follow the white tracer
